The Role We're looking for an Electrical/Electronics Design Engineer who wants to own hardware and firmware end-to-end — not just one slice of a massive program. You'll work across PCB design, analog/digital/power circuits, embedded firmware, and motor control, taking products from a napkin sketch through prototyping, validation, and full production release. You'll report directly to our VP of R&D and work shoulder-to-shoulder with a small, experienced engineering team where your decisions ship. If you like seeing your board layout turn into a working prototype on your bench within days, and your firmware running in the field within months, this is that kind of job. What You'll Do Design schematics and PCB layouts in Altium (or similar tools), for analog, digital, and power electronics Develop embedded firmware — control logic, user interfaces, algorithms, and communication protocols Build and tune embedded control systems, including motor control applications Bring designs to life: build, test, troubleshoot, and refine prototypes and production units on your own bench Validate designs through simulation, lab testing, and real-world field testing Select components and materials for performance, environmental durability, and chemical compatibility (marine environments don't forgive shortcuts) Design with manufacturability, reliability, and cost in mind from day one Create and maintain design documentation, specs, and production records; author engineering change orders (ECOs) Support certification and regulatory compliance activities Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and project engineering as needed — we're a small team and everyone contributes beyond their title What You'll Bring A collaborative mindset and genuine curiosity about how things work Strong problem-solving instincts and the judgment to know when a design is "good enough" to ship and when it isn't Comfort in a hands-on environment where your responsibilities grow with your ability Self-direction — you can run with ambiguity and figure out the next right step High integrity, attention to detail, and pride in your work Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 2+ years of electrical product development experience 2+ years of embedded systems design experience, including firmware development and debugging Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with Altium Designer Experience with Field-Oriented Control (FOC), variable frequency drives (VFDs), or other motor control techniques Experience carrying a product from concept through production release A performance- and cost-conscious engineering mindset Comfort managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, small-team environment Available on-site in Plymouth, MN, Monday-Friday during regular business hours Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health insurance Paid time off Nine paid holidays annually 401(k) retirement plan Optional dental, life, and disability insurance Our Culture A tight-knit team of experienced engineers who'll teach you as much as you teach them Real ownership — the products you design are the products that ship Fast-paced, decision-driven environment: good ideas move from whiteboard to production fast High standards for quality, precision, and accountability A company where individual contributions are visible and valued
