Mechanical Engineering Applications DeveloperJob Description The Mechanical Engineering Applications Developer supports and enhances CAD and related engineering software, with a primary focus on automating and customizing CAD tools to streamline design workflows. This role identifies opportunities for improvement and builds API-based solutions that reduce manual work, increase designer efficiency, and improve overall engineering quality. Responsibilities + Automate and customize 3D CAD systems to improve engineering workflows and reduce repetitive manual tasks. + Develop APIs, scripts, and software tools using C#/.NET or Python to support CAD automation and customization. + Support and administer engineering applications, including CAD and PLM tools, to ensure reliable day-to-day operation. + Build and maintain integrations between engineering applications and business systems such as ERP or CRM. + Troubleshoot application and integration issues in collaboration with engineering users, internal IT teams, and software vendors. + Support software upgrades, deployments, and ongoing application improvements. + Create clear, basic technical documentation and user guides to help engineering teams adopt new tools and workflows. Essential Skills + Proven experience automating or customizing a CAD system, with SolidWorks preferred; experience with Creo or another major CAD platform is also acceptable. + Hands-on programming experience with C#/.NET or Python scripting for API development. + Ability to understand engineering design workflows and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement. + Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in an engineering applications environment. + Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering users and technical teams. + Practical knowledge of CAD automation, scripting, engineering workflow optimization, and API development. + Experience with CAD/PLM administration and 3D mechanical design concepts. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience supporting or administering CAD, PLM, CAE, KBE, ERP, or similar engineering and manufacturing systems. + Experience integrating engineering applications with other enterprise systems such as ERP or CRM. + SolidWorks design or administration experience. + Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field. + Experience working in a consulting or customer-facing environment. + Interest in making a measurable impact by improving engineering efficiency through software and automation. + Ability to work in an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and ideas. Work Environment This is an onsite role in a professional engineering and technology environment. You will work closely with design engineers, IT professionals, and other technical stakeholders, using modern CAD, PLM, and enterprise systems to support product development and manufacturing processes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Plymouth, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
