This role provides guidance to Sales and internal Engineering teams on product design to meet customer needs and is directly involved in customized solution development, including design proposals, solution verification, and drawing preparation. Drug-free workplace/EOE See full job description below: The Application Engineering role shall support the Product Platforms and Engineering team by providing detailed sales and system application support. An individual in this role is expected to provide guidance and direction to the Sales team and internal Engineering team members concerning product design to meet a customer's needs. The role is directly involved in product design for customized solutions, including design proposals for quotations, solution verification, and drafts / drawing proposals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include Receives design specification input from Engineered Product Specialists and reviews with Sales and/or customers about product requirements versus our capabilities. Prepares detailed component, product, and/or layout and detailed drawings and schematics using SolidWorks and AutoCAD / DraftsSight. Processes Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for the product line(s). Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods. Reviews challenges and problems with Engineering personnel. Works to find solutions to meet the customer's requirements. Locates design and application files related to the required design(s), and makes design modifications, as appropriate. Conducts design review meetings with sales, manufacturing, and quality assurance personnel, for special engineered products. Initiates and writes Test Requests, analyzes results, and takes appropriate action. Over time, develops an expert-level understanding of assigned products. Provides engineering support to the manufacturing shop floor as required. Corrects any errors/omissions that occur in an expeditious manner and looks for ways to reduce/eliminate reoccurring errors. Supports corrective action investigation, analysis, and permanent corrective action implementation. Performs on-site inspections and supports commissioning activities. Understands and interprets regulatory codes such as UL, NEC and NFPA. Perform any other duties as required by the customer and assigned by management. Supports and upholds the Quality and EHS policy. Supervisory and Leadership Responsibilities This role has no supervisory responsibilities, anyone in this role is expected to provide guidance and leadership to team members in Designer roles. Qualified candidates will possess the following Associate degree (A.S.) in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, or Engineering Technology and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD 2018 or newer and SolidWorks are required. Sound understanding of mobile electrification systems for industrial and/or commercial use is required. Ability to communicate and effectively document conversations with Sales and/or Customers concerning applications and technical requirements.
