Job Summary
Position Description:
This position requires 100% on-site work at a client facility due to secure-access and in-person collaboration requirements. This position will also require
US CITIZEN
applicants, as opposed to green-card holders, due to the security requirements. Candidates must have an ACTIVE top secret clearance. Support FAST Labs research and development programs as a Senior Software Engineer. Design, develop, test, integrate, and sustain advanced software solutions supporting U.S. defense applications.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and evaluate complex software architectures aligned with program, customer, security, and performance requirements.
- Develop, test, debug, integrate, and maintain software primarily using C++11 or later in Linux environments; Python and MATLAB may also be used.
- Develop software for distributed, multi-threaded, real-time, embedded, low-latency, signal-processing, device-control, and/or military systems.
- Interface software with hardware including FPGAs, GPUs, embedded SoCs, and peripherals using protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, and CAN.
- Support software applications for RF, radar, EO/IR, electronic warfare, software-defined radio, sensors, autonomy, artificial intelligence, cyber, and related advanced-electronics programs.
- Apply software engineering best practices including object-oriented design, code reviews, automated testing, configuration management, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automated release management.
- Develop and operate software in containerized and cloud-native environments using technologies such as Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, Harbor, and Helm, as applicable.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, program leadership, customers, and cross-functional teams in an agile development environment.
- Support on-site integration, test, demonstrations, and occasional domestic travel as required.
Skills Preferred:
Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Python and/or MATLAB development experience.
GPU software development experience using CUDA and/or OpenCL.
Experience in rapid-prototyping environments.
Experience with real-time, embedded, multi-threaded, low-latency, and/or Linux application development.
Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, automated release management, and secure software-development practices.
- Experience developing and deploying software in containerized environments using Docker and/or Podman.
Experience with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Harbor, and Helm.
Experience developing software for distributed systems, digital signal processing, device control, RF, radar, EO/IR, electronic warfare, software-defined radio, or military systems.
Familiarity with hardware interfaces and protocols, including FPGAs, GPUs, embedded SoCs, UART, I2C, SPI, and CAN.
Knowledge of Digital Engineering methodologies and Model-Based Systems Engineering practices.
Experience Preferred:
Experience supporting research, rapid-prototype, defense, intelligence, or other mission-critical engineering programs.
Experience developing software for real-time, embedded, distributed, multi-threaded, low-latency, DSP, device-control, or military applications.
Experience integrating software with FPGAs, GPUs, embedded systems, sensors, or other hardware devices.
Experience with RF, radar, EO/IR, electronic warfare, software-defined radio, autonomy, artificial intelligence, or cyber systems.
Experience with GPU programming using CUDA or OpenCL.
Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, containerization, and cloud-native development and deployment.
Experience working in agile development environments.
Requirements
Skills Required:
Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 6 years of professional software development experience.
- Advanced proficiency in object-oriented software design and development using C++11 or later.
- Advanced experience developing and operating software in Linux environments.
- Knowledge of software architectures, software engineering best practices, and emerging software technologies.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, debugging, integrating, and maintaining complex software applications.
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced research and development environment and adapt to changing technical and program requirements.
Experience Required:
Minimum 6 years of professional software development experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, testing, and integrating software applications using C++11 or later.
Demonstrated experience developing and operating software in Linux environments.
Experience applying object-oriented design principles, software architecture concepts, and industry-standard software-development practices.
Experience working collaboratively with engineering teams and technical stakeholders to deliver software solutions.
Active Top Secret security clearance is required at the time of submission.
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited college or university.
