Product Applications Engineer ? TPG Staffing - Brick, NJ, United States Product Applications Engineer About the Job Our client, a growing, family-owned manufacturer and recognized leader in storage and material handling solutions, is seeking a Product Applications Engineer to join its Engineering team in Brick, NJ. This is an onsite position. This position serves as the technical product expert connecting customers, sales, and engineering. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing and Engineering, the Product Applications Engineer will work closely with the sales team and customers to understand application challenges, recommend practical solutions, troubleshoot problems, and identify opportunities to improve existing products or develop new ones. Position Responsibilities Customer and Application Support Serve as a technical resource for the company's products, applications, capabilities, and recommended use cases. Partner with sales and customers to understand application needs, troubleshoot challenges, and recommend the right product or solution, including creative solutions when standard configurations aren't enough. Investigate customer complaints, field issues, and product or application problems. Work with internal teams to identify root causes and corrective actions. Visit customer sites as needed to evaluate applications, investigate issues, and support sales opportunities. Product Improvement Identify and help drive product improvement opportunities based on customer feedback, field observations, recurring challenges, and market needs. Lead or support the evaluation, testing, documentation, and implementation of product improvements in partnership with engineering, product development, operations, sales, quality, and leadership. Translate customer needs and field observations into clear technical requirements, recommendations, and action plans. Engineering Support and Training Provide backup applications engineering support, including responding to tickets, creating drawings and layouts, and developing bills of material for standard products. Support product training and technical knowledge sharing across sales, customer service, applications engineering, and other internal teams. Skills & Knowledge Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field required. Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar modeling software, with the ability to create 3D models and manufacturing drawings and design complex mechanical components. Ability to read, create, and interpret technical drawings, layouts, product documentation, and bills of material. Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly become an expert in products, applications, and customer use cases. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to define the real problem, think creatively, and develop practical solutions. Ability to own product improvement opportunities from initial concern or idea through implementation and follow-up. Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organization, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Familiarity with ERP/MRP, CRM, ticketing, or engineering change systems preferred. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has a background in applications, product, sales, or manufacturing engineering, or customer-facing technical support, with hands-on experience working directly with sales teams or customers to evaluate applications and recommend technical solutions. The individual should be comfortable investigating field issues and customer complaints, working with CAD drawings, layouts, BOMs, and configurations, and identifying product improvement opportunities. Experience in material handling, storage solutions, manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, or automation will be especially valuable. Compensation & Benefits Salary range of $95,000 - $125,000, depending on experience. Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.
