Job Description

Description Permanent position for an Embedded Systems Engineer responsible for hardware and firmware design of laboratory instrumentation used in pre-clinical life-science research. Design analog and digital circuits, capture schematics, lay out multi-layer PCBs and review layouts prior to release. Implement power distribution and regulation. Write and maintain embedded firmware in C and C++ on various microcontrollers, typically in a Linux environment. Coordinate outside vendors for board fabrication, assembly and rework. Bring up and debug boards at the bench using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and multimeters. Generate schematics, BOMs, assembly and test procedures and end-user documentation from system-level specifications. Oversee production builds of finished instruments and train production and test personnel. Work directly with customers to define specifications, troubleshoot fielded systems remotely and support sales and marketing efforts. Requirements BS Electrical Engineering. Minimum 5 years designing, building and troubleshooting low-power embedded systems. Minimum 2 years writing and maintaining C programs in an embedded Linux environment. Proficiency in C, C++ and Python. Experience with ECAD schematic capture and PCB layout tools. Working knowledge of I2C, SPI, 1-Wire and UART, plus USB and Ethernet connectivity. Ability to hand solder discrete components on PCBs for prototype and rework. Experience in FDA-regulated research facilities a plus. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or Zigbee experience a plus. #ERGx
