Job Description

Junior Software Engineer at SAJA Junior Software Engineer at SAJA in Union City, New Jersey Posted in about 4 hours ago.

Type:

full-time SAJA is a venture-backed startup funded by top investors. We're building a new way to collect, trade, and engage with physical collectibles through a digital-first experience. We're growing rapidly so we're looking for a Software Engineer with 0-3 years of experience to help us build and ship the product, primarily on iOS, with room to work across the stack as you grow. What you'll do Build and ship features in our iOS app, from the pack-opening experience to collection management to payments. Work across the stack when a feature needs it, including the TypeScript backend that powers the app. Take features from a rough idea to something in front of real users, and stay with them after launch. Debug issues in production, including the ones that only show up on real devices and real networks. Work with design, product, and the rest of engineering to figure out what's worth building and what it should actually do. Help us make good decisions about testing, reliability, and how we handle anything that touches money. What we're looking for Strong fundamentals in at least one language, and the ability to pick up others quickly. We use Swift and SwiftUI on iOS and TypeScript on the backend, but we care far more that you can learn a stack than that you already know ours. Some experience building something real, whether that's a personal project, an internship, or coursework you took further than required. We'd rather see one thing you shipped and can talk about in depth than a long list of technologies. The instinct to figure out why something is broken rather than trying fixes until one works. Ability to take an underspecified problem and ask the right questions before writing code. Comfort making decisions with incomplete information, and knowing when to ask instead. Interest in consumer products, marketplaces, gaming, collectibles, fintech, or e-commerce. Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment with significant ownership. Strong ability to be AI-forward with tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and a yearly $100k token budget allotted to you. What this job is actually like You'll ship to production early, in your first couple of weeks. You'll work across most of the product rather than one corner of it, and you'll have someone senior to learn from while you do. It moves quickly, the codebase is young, and you'll have real influence over how things get built. Although preferred, you do not need experience in collectibles or trading cards, or prior iOS experience if you're a strong engineer elsewhere. We care much more about your ability to think critically, learn quickly, and build things that work. Location We're headquartered in NYC and most of the team is here, but we hire remote and hybrid. If you're in the city, you'll find people in the office everyday. If you're not, we make sure you're not a second-class participant, and we'll fly you in regularly so you get real time with the team. Compensation $200,000-$300,000 base, plus meaningful early-stage equity (0.5-2%). The range reflects real differences in experience and demonstrated ability. We'll tell you where we think you land and why. Additional equity compensation a serious part of the offer, not a rounding error, and we're happy to walk you through the numbers so you can actually evaluate it. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision, with premiums fully covered for you and heavily subsidized for dependents 401(k) Unlimited PTO 16 weeks paid parental leave for all new parents Top-spec laptop, monitors, and whatever else makes you effective; home office stipend if you're remote $100k annual AI token budget, plus a learning and conference budget Commuter benefits for NYC-based folks Regular offsites and team dinners Lunch provided in the office Even if you do not meet all the qualifications, feel free to apply if you think there might be a role for you at SAJA. Drive and passion are our favorite markers for success. Please do not apply to multiple roles within Saja. We will automatically consider you for other roles, but please apply to only one role.
