91,000 - 138,800 annually (salary range is based on market data; final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.) Project Overview:
Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. M&T is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, datacenter, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets. Job Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Engineer (CIE) will report to the Continuous Improvement Lead (CIL) and will be responsible for supporting continuous improvement initiatives on the project. The CIE will support the CIL to develop and deliver a project customized continuous improvement program, including a risk-based strategy that meets project goals and objectives, including alignment, prioritizing, scheduling, training, metrics/dashboards, PBQ, LL, Causal Analysis, Six Sigma, and tracking progress of improvement initiatives. The CIE will apply skills, knowledge, experience, and tools (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, behavioral and facilitation techniques) to close gaps and invest in opportunities, resulting in institutionalized changes that measurably improve efficiency, productivity, and quality across the project. The CIE will be responsible for using data to measure and report project performance, and ensure improvements are institutionalized. The CIE will support teams through the CI process to solve problems and make fact-based decisions to deliver right the first-time quality. Facilitate resolution of issues, improvements, and opportunities across all functions within the project team. The CIE will support continuous improvement efforts, be a key technical resource partner for the project team, resulting in improved project performance. #LI-SM2
Major Responsibilities:
Support the Continuous Improvement Lead (CIL) in developing and implementing a continuous improvement program and risk-based strategy to achieve project goals and objectives. This includes alignment, prioritization, scheduling, training, metrics and dashboards, Performance-Based Quality (PBQ), Lessons Learned (LL), Causal Analysis, Six Sigma activities, and tracking improvement initiatives. Support a Continuous Improvement (CI) team in executing continuous improvement activities.

Scope, plan, and select appropriate continuous improvement tools and methodologies. Analyze process and performance data across projects and functions. Conduct data analysis and develop performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for further improvement. Monitor performance metrics and use results to drive continuous improvement activities. Develop Quality Incident OOM criteria for selecting appropriate causal analysis tools (including Root Cause Analysis and 5 Whys) and facilitate causal analysis activities. Utilize causal analysis tools to facilitate and lead apparent cause evaluations and root cause analyses. Support approved workshops and training sessions to educate employees on continuous improvement methodologies and tools. Provide input into the development of standardized project performance indicators. Promote a culture of continuous improvement through collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing across the project.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification Required; Six Sigma Master Yellow Belt or identified
Six Sigma Black Belt Candidate Certified Causal Analysis Lead Required Knowledge and Skills:
Experience improving Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Startup, and Operations work processes and business functions, or advanced experience optimizing complex industrial processes, systems, or organizations. Experience supervising direct reports. Proven ability to achieve measurable continuous improvement results through influence, leadership, and change management skills. Training in Kaizen and/or Lean methodologies.

Training in team facilitation techniques. Training in causal analysis techniques. Experience applying structured approaches to process analysis and problem solving. Experience establishing, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting performance data and results to the CIL and project management. Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, database administration, Visio (or equivalent), and Minitab. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.
