Endicott, NY Compensation:
$65,000-$110,000 annually
Schedule:

Sapphire Recruitment is partnering with a well-established technology manufacturer seeking Software Engineers to support the design and development of rugged, high-performance electronic systems. This is an exciting opportunity for engineers with experience in embedded software, Ethernet networking, and real-time systems. The successful candidates will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams to develop reliable networking solutions capable of operating in demanding environments. Key Responsibilities Design and develop embedded software for rugged electronic systems used in challenging operating environments. Develop device drivers, networking protocols, management interfaces, and other embedded software components. Support Ethernet switch functionality and related networking capabilities. Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, product managers, manufacturing teams, and other stakeholders to establish product requirements and technical specifications. Evaluate hardware and software architectures based on performance, scalability, power consumption, reliability, security, and cost. Conduct feasibility studies and recommend appropriate technical solutions. Test and verify software modules, troubleshoot technical issues, and resolve performance bottlenecks. Help transition new designs from engineering into production while addressing manufacturing and quality considerations. Provide technical guidance and support related to product deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Prepare technical specifications, user documentation, application notes, and other engineering materials. Remain current with networking technologies, industry standards, and emerging engineering practices. Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Professional experience developing software for networking equipment or embedded electronic systems. Strong knowledge of Ethernet and TCP/IP networking. Understanding of networking technologies and protocols such as VLAN, Spanning Tree Protocol, Quality of Service, and SNMP. Experience developing embedded software using C or C++. Familiarity with real-time operating systems. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional engineering environment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing reliable, high-quality solutions. Preferred Experience Software development for Ethernet switches or other networked embedded products. Knowledge of network security principles, secure protocols, and encryption methods. Experience designing products for harsh or highly regulated environments. Familiarity with military, industrial, environmental, ingress-protection, shock, vibration, or electromagnetic-interference standards.
