Job Description Role Overview:
The Performance Engineer will be responsible for performance, reliability, and optimization of a fleet of two fossil power plants in the PJM region. The position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing and improving performance, reliability, availability and operational risk through the application of performance engineering, reliability engineering, predictive analytics and condition monitoring techniques. The Performance Engineer will identify and develop tools used to analyze operating asset performance, conduct data analysis to identify opportunities for efficiency and reliability improvements, support root cause investigations, and develop recommendations to optimize plant operations, maintenance strategies and lifecycle asset management. Performance and Reliability Monitoring:
  • Track and coordinate metrics to identify and resolve key plant performance issues/failures.
  • Support root cause analysis, provide technical support, and coordinate third party resources to mitigate issues which have the greatest financial impact.
  • Track, coordinate, and report fleet outage schedules, incidents, and performance metrics. Develop tools to support these activities. Coordinate between Plant Staff and other teams including Operations, Commercial and Energy Management.
  • Be the primary GADS, OSI-PI and EtaPRO administrator.
  • Submit data to various ISOs. Manage O&M service provider to provide accurate and timely data for review and submittal.
  • Perform analysis of power generating fleet using GADS, EtaPRO and OSI-PI data using analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Python.
Plant Optimization and Monitoring:
  • Maintain plant configuration control by advocating for site's Design Basis and perform equivalency modifications for obsolete equipment with third-party engineering firm and site plant engineer.
  • Performance audits, observations, surveys, and assessments of plant activities such as maintenance and operations.
  • Develop performance dashboards and digital tools to provide plant health checks.
  • Coordinate RFP processes, bid evaluations, and administer project contracts ensuring compliance, change management, and performance obligations.
  • Coordinate with Plant Managers in OGAM fleet for input on project scope, technical deliverables and performing walkdowns at the plant for assigned projects.
