We're looking for software engineers who will modernize Hertz's tech stack and, in the process, ship delightful products to meet the ever-increasing demands of our customers. •What you will do:•+ Design, develop, and maintain applications and services using Java and cloud-based technologies. + Build and support REST APIs and backend services that enable critical business functionality. + Develop solutions that support fleet utilization, inventory optimization, and operational decision-making. + Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions. + Utilize modern engineering tools, including AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor, to improve development velocity + Design, implement and maintain applications that can be high-volume and low-latency + Contribute to all stages of software development lifecycle + Analyze user requirements to define business objectives + Envisioning system features and functionality + Develop and test software + Identify and resolve any technical issues arising + Create detailed design documentation + Propose changes to current infrastructure + Develop technical designs for application development + Write well designed, testable code + Conducting software analysis, programming, testing, and debugging + Support continuous improvement, investigating alternatives and technologies, and presenting for architectural review •

What We're Looking For:

•+ B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent + Proficiency in one or more programming languages and common data structures / algorithms + 2+ years of software engineering experience developing backend applications or services. + Experience with Java or another modern object-oriented programming language. + Experience building and consuming REST APIs. + Experience working within cloud environments, preferably AWS. + Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices. + Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, object-oriented design, and system architecture. + Ability to write production-ready code with moderate supervision + Ability to design systems of moderate complexity + Ability to conduct code reviews and give sign-off for code merges + Strong communication skills. You must be able to work with cross-functional partners to gather requirements and explain outcomes + Strong product sense. You must be able to align your work with business objectives and make appropriate tradeoffs + Learning mentality. You must be able to pick up new skills as needed and demonstrate a curiosity about new technologies The starting salary is $100,000; actual salary will be determined based on relevant work experience •
