Buildmaster Overview:
The Buildmaster is responsible for managing and governing the software build and release ecosystem, ensuring source code integrity, efficient development workflows, and reliable software delivery across all development streams.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain GitLab, including repositories, groups, permissions, branching strategies, and merge request processes.
  • Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support automated builds, testing, deployments, and release management.
  • Oversee source code management, repository governance, version control standards, and code promotion processes.
  • Coordinate and manage code merges, branching, tagging, and release activities across multiple development streams.
  • Monitor build health, pipeline performance, and deployment success rates; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve build, deployment, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with development, QA, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure streamlined software delivery.
  • Help establish and enforce best practices for code management, release processes, and DevOps standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and development practices.
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab, source control management, and repository administration.
  • Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment frameworks desired.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar).
  • Coding knowledge or experience.
  • Knowledge of branching, merging, versioning, and release management methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, collaboration, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with DevOps tools, cloud platforms - docker ideally, and infrastructure automation.
Understanding of application architecture, build systems, and software release governance.
