We are seeking a talented Developer Mastery with deep expertise in evaluating and modernizing complex calculation platforms. This contract role offers $90-$100 per hour on a W2 basis, with a 4-month term (plus extensions). Work remotely on EST hours or opt for a hybrid setup out of Springfield, MA, or New York City. Required Skills & Experience:
10+ years in enterprise software engineering, architecture, or legacy system modernization Extensive experience with product calculation engines, rules engines, pricing, projections, or configurable business rules Proven BA/discovery skills: stakeholder interviews, dependency mapping, current-state documentation Strong understanding of APIs, service orchestration, data contracts, and enterprise integrations Ability to reverse engineer legacy platforms, document technical debt, and recommend phased modernization options Insurance technology experience (life insurance, annuities, policy admin, or financial services) preferred
Preferred Skills & Nice-to-Haves:
Hands-on experience with DXC VP/MS, Vantage, or similar platforms Familiarity with BIRT reporting engine and related modernization Use of AI tools like Claude AI, GitHub Copilot for code analysis & documentation Experience designing modular services and modernization strategies
