W2 only; no C2C Position Overview We are seeking a Lead Application Developer who combines strong hands-on Microsoft-stack development experience with the leadership and architectural judgment needed to drive complex initiatives forward. This individual will support the modernization of an ocean-freight auditing platform. The team is integrating new software with a legacy system and transitioning functionality to a modern platform. The Lead Application Developer will evaluate existing code, make modifications during the transition, participate in the development of the new solution, and help support the platform as additional clients are added. This is not solely a coding position. The successful candidate must be able to gather requirements, challenge assumptions, recommend technical solutions, manage project activities, communicate with stakeholders, mentor developers, and drive initiatives through completion. Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and implementation of end-to-end application solutions Evaluate existing application code and make modifications during a legacy-platform conversion Participate in the development and implementation of the new application platform Translate business needs into technical requirements, architecture, and user stories Partner with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development team members Challenge business and technical assumptions and recommend effective solutions Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding and quality standards Develop and execute test plans to evaluate application and system performance Research emerging technologies and recommend tools that improve flexibility, delivery, and cost effectiveness Support project planning, stakeholder communication, requirements gathering, and delivery Apply artificial intelligence and large language model capabilities to application development and engineering workflows Work within Agile development practices and the complete software development lifecycle Required Qualifications Five or more years of professional application-development experience Strong, recent hands-on experience with C# and .NET Strong Microsoft SQL Server and relational-database experience Experience with Azure Five or more years of business-requirements gathering and analysis experience Experience designing and developing internet-based systems Experience using Visual Studio Experience with source control through Azure DevOps, TFS, or Git Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern web-development practices Strong architectural, analytical, and problem-solving abilities Experience leading projects, mentoring developers, and conducting code reviews Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders Experience with Agile methodologies and the complete software development lifecycle Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, or equivalent professional experience Artificial Intelligence Requirements Candidates should have practical experience or a strong working understanding of one or more of the following: Integrating large language models into applications Prompt engineering or model fine-tuning Generative AI and agentic AI development AI-assisted requirements analysis and story creation Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, or similar AI development tools AI-assisted code generation, validation, testing, or refactoring Preferred Qualifications React experience Angular, AngularJS, or TypeScript experience Experience modernizing or integrating legacy applications Experience with transportation, freight auditing, invoice processing, or payment systems Knowledge of data privacy requirements and best practices Candidates must be local to the Bridgeton, Missouri area and available to work onsite every Tuesday and Wednesday.
