Embedded Software Radar Engineer (C++ / Real‑Time Systems)

Eligibility for U.S. Government clearance required Overview We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and develop real‑time, mission‑critical embedded software in a Linux environment. This role focuses on building low‑latency, deterministic systems that interface closely with FPGA‑based hardware and support advanced sensor and radar processing applications. You will work at the intersection of software, hardware, and systems engineering , collaborating closely with FPGA designers, hardware engineers, and radar specialists to turn prototype algorithms into robust, production‑ready software. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain real‑time embedded software in C++ on a Linux‑based platform Develop low‑latency, deterministic systems that meet strict timing, performance, and reliability requirements Interface embedded software with FPGAs using: Memory‑mapped I/O DMA Interrupts Custom communication protocols Collaborate with FPGA, hardware, and systems teams to define and maintain clean hardware/software interfaces Debug and resolve complex issues across hardware and software boundaries Work with radar engineers to transition algorithm prototypes and signal‑processing concepts into production‑quality software Analyze radar data from customers and operations teams to identify anomalies and perform root‑cause analysis Contribute to system design discussions, reviews, and documentation Required Qualifications Strong proficiency in C++ (modern C++11 or later preferred) Experience developing embedded software in a Linux environment Solid understanding of real‑time systems , including: Latency and determinism Scheduling and concurrency Timing constraints Strong grasp of embedded systems fundamentals , including: Memory management Interrupt handling DMA Hardware timing considerations Experience debugging complex embedded systems involving hardware/software integration Ability to design software with a balance of performance, correctness, and maintainability Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively on cross‑disciplinary teams Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Experience Background in radar, RF systems, digital signal processing (DSP), or sensor‑based systems Experience with FPGA‑interfacing software Exposure to sensor fusion , state estimation, robotics, or autonomous systems Familiarity with low‑level I/O, memory‑mapped registers, and high‑performance data pipelines Experience supporting deployed systems and analyzing real‑world operational data Core Skills & Technologies C++ (Modern C++) Embedded & Real‑Time Systems Linux Hardware/Software Integration FPGA Interfaces (I/O, DMA, Interrupts) Debugging & Root‑Cause Analysis Radar / RF / DSP (preferred) Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Burlington, MA.
