Job Description
Build Engineer 100% remote Full time (no sponsorship permitted) $125-$135K The Planet Group has partnered with an EST based company to locate a Build Engineer to help modernize and support a build, release, and deployment infrastructure across a diverse application environment. This is a hands-on role focused on improving CI/CD processes, strengthening build automation, and enabling development teams to deliver software more reliably and efficiently. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source control, scripting, and cloud deployment environments. You will work closely with development and operations teams to improve existing build systems, automate manual processes, troubleshoot deployment issues, and establish scalable build and release practices. Responsibilities Modernize, optimize, and maintain Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines and build infrastructure. Design and enhance automated build, release, and deployment processes across multiple application platforms and environments. Identify opportunities to eliminate manual processes, improve build reliability, and reduce deployment times. Support deployments, scheduled releases, and production hotfixes in coordination with development and operations teams. Manage and optimize Git/Bitbucket repositories, branching strategies, and source-control practices. Develop and maintain build and deployment automation using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Groovy. Support application deployments within AWS and Azure cloud environments. Monitor build systems, troubleshoot failures, and proactively address performance and reliability issues. Incorporate security and operational best practices throughout CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes. Partner with developers to troubleshoot build and deployment issues and improve the overall developer experience. Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and build procedures. Provide guidance and knowledge-sharing to development teams on CI/CD tools, processes, and best practices. Serve as a key technical resource for build, release, and deployment-related questions. Champion continuous improvement across build and deployment processes. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in Build Engineering, DevOps, Release Engineering, CI/CD Engineering, or a related technical role. Strong hands-on experience with Jenkins or a comparable CI/CD platform. Experience designing, maintaining, and improving automated CI/CD pipelines. Strong knowledge of Git-based source control, preferably Bitbucket. Experience with build and deployment automation using Python, Bash, Groovy, or similar scripting languages. Experience deploying applications or services within AWS and/or Azure environments. Demonstrated experience improving or modernizing existing build and deployment processes. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose build and deployment failures. Experience collaborating with software development and operations teams in an Agile environment. Strong written communication skills with the ability to create clear technical documentation and operational procedures. Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical issues, and drive them through resolution.
