Job Requirements Aiken, SC Secret Polygraph Unspecified Career Level not specified Salary not specified Join Premium to unlock estimated salaries Job Description About the Role Our Client is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer (I&C Design Engineer) to provide design engineering staff augmentation support. This role defines the scope of technical programs and develops effective, quality solutions to unique or complex engineering challenges, applying deep technical expertise to drive results that meet both company and industry requirements. Key Responsibilities Define the scope of technical programs and develop high-quality, cost-effective solutions to complex or unique problems Apply deep technical experience in a specialized field, or broad-based experience across multiple technical disciplines, to resolve complex engineering problems Incorporate advanced technical practices, complex requirements, new/special materials or processes, and difficult coordination efforts into program planning Provide technical leadership and be recognized as a subject-matter expert in one or more functional areas Direct programs seeking new approaches or novel applications of existing engineering/scientific principles, both within and outside formal department lines Evaluate program results and prepare reports and recommendations Identify and recommend improvements where existing technology or methodology is inadequate Stay current on technological advancements within your area of expertise Prepare technical project plans, including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements Develop schedules, monitor progress and budget expenditures, and review work quality Communicate results and objectives to customers, colleagues, and management, both verbally and in writing Occasionally prepare reports for external publication Contribute to the field through leadership in local technical societies Demonstrate creative and technical contribution through patent disclosures, engineering reports, technical papers, and articles Additional Duties (Design Engineering Support) Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to the Client Perform engineering analysis, walkdowns, design development, and generation of design output documents, including: P&IDs Control Logics Loop Diagrams Instrument Indices Setpoint Lists Instrument and Control Valve Specifications DCS and PLC Design Instrument Location and Installation Design Panel Layouts Vendor Document Review Perform engineering services in accordance with Client processes and procedures, under Client programmatic guidance Required Qualifications Education & Experience (one of the following): Ph.D. in an applicable science or engineering discipline + 5 years of experience, or
M.S. + 8
years of experience, orB.S. + 10
years of experience or moreAdditional Required Education:
B.S. in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or I&C Engineering - or current registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in one of these disciplinesAdditional Required Experience:
10 years of direct I&C design experience (within the last 15 years) in the nuclear or process chemical industry Design experience with process control instrumentation, PLCs, and distributed control systems Proficiency in MicroStation 2D CADD softwarePhysical/Field Requirements:
Ability to perform weekly field walkdowns of active job sites, which may include uneven surfaces, active construction areas, walking distances of over half a mile, climbing ladders, and wearing required protective clothingSecurity Clearance:
