Position Overview:
The Software Engineer SQL delivers high-quality, scalable software solutions and data driven applications that support critical business operations. This role combines application development with strong SQL and database engineering expertise, including database design, query optimization, performance tuning, and data integration. The engineer partners with business stakeholders and technical teams to develop reliable, secure, and efficient solutions across customer-facing and internal platforms.
Responsibilities:
Reliably deliver quality code that solves user and business problems in a flexible, scalable way Design, develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and database objects that support critical business applications. Implement new features and modify existing features across a variety of customer-facing and internal business applications Analyze and improve database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis. Ability to maintain, debug, propose bug fixes, and troubleshoot product systems with little oversight Provide feedback, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with other engineering teams, user experience design, and product teams Review and test code before deployment, performing unit and integration testing Perform bug fixes, support troubleshooting and resolve complex data integrity, performance, and synchronization issues Demonstrated ability to understand and optimize the performance implications of database design choices, SQL data types, indexing strategies, query execution plans, and large-scale data processing workloads Ensure data accuracy, security, and reliability through database best practices and governance standards. Learn the tech stack through and through, and contribute ideas that inform broader team initiatives and technical strategy Productively collaborate with functional teams to decompose requirements and translate them into creative, effective solutions Collaborate with business and engineering teams to design scalable data models and database architectures.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other relevant engineering field or equivalent work experience 5+ years of web development experience with HTML5, Node.js, React, and other modern JavaScript frameworks 2+ years of recent experience as a build and deployment engineer using industry-standard tools Experience developing enterprise applications using C#, .NET, and Microsoft SQL Server. Strong hands-on experience with relational database technologies including Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, MSSQL, MySQL, or similar platforms. Experience writing complex SQL queries, joins, stored procedures, views, triggers, and database functions. Experience with database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting production database issues. Understanding of database design principles, normalization, data modeling, and data integrity best practices Knowledge working closely with Git Understanding of industry-standard system architecture and system management tools Experience supporting and documenting build and configuration changes throughout environments Experience in Agile/Scrum development cycle environments a plus If hired, you will enjoy the following
