Job Description
Climashield is creating the Climashield Center for Thermal Performance as a core capability in our pursuit of becoming the global authority in thermal performance. We are seeking an early-career Textile Engineer who wants more than a narrowly defined laboratory position—someone eager to help build the systems, methods, and knowledge that will shape how thermal materials and finished products are evaluated. This role will connect raw materials, manufacturing, insulation performance, and finished thermal systems. The engineer will manage specifications and testing requirements, analyze process and product data, and translate results into clear technical insight for operations, customers, and leadership. Position Purpose The Quality & Thermal Performance Engineer will support the development and operation of the Climashield Center for Thermal Performance while strengthening the technical systems used to assure product quality and contract compliance. The role will help ensure that raw materials, manufacturing processes, insulation products, and finished thermal systems are evaluated against clearly defined requirements and that the resulting data drives meaningful action. What You Will Own
- Specifications and requirements. Maintain raw-material, internal-product, customer, military, and contract specifications, including applicable test methods and acceptance criteria.
- Testing and validation. Develop internal test plans, compare results with contractual requirements, coordinate qualified external testing, and maintain complete technical records.
- Statistical performance. Build visual dashboards and trend reports; calculate and monitor Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk, control limits, and other relevant quality measures.
- Thermal-performance knowledge. Help establish methods and reporting for insulation and finished systems such as sleeping bags, outerwear, gloves, shelters, and other thermal applications.
- Technical investigations. Support root-cause analysis, corrective action, process trials, product development, and designed experiments.
- Measurement integrity. Support calibration, method validation, measurement-system analysis, repeatability, and reproducibility.
- Technical communication. Convert complex findings into clear graphs, reports, conclusions, and recommendations for technical and nontechnical audiences. What You Will Learn
- How fiber and filament properties influence processing and finished-product performance.
- How web formation, bonding, finishing, loft, weight, thermal efficiency, durability, compression, and laundering interact.
- How to connect laboratory results with manufacturing conditions and customer requirements.
- How to develop a performance-validation capability from the ground up.
- How to communicate technical findings directly to operations leaders, customers, suppliers, and senior management. QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Materials Science, or a closely related engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience. Academic or practical foundation in fibers, textile structures, nonwovens, textile testing, statistics, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and visualize data using Microsoft Excel or similar tools.
- Strong analytical curiosity and the ability to move from a test result to a well-supported conclusion.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work hands-on in a manufacturing and laboratory environment. Preferred
- Coursework, internship, senior design, or research experience involving textile testing, quality engineering, statistics, nonwovens, or thermal materials.
- Familiarity with statistical process control, capability analysis, design of experiments, regression, and measurement-system analysis.
- Experience with Minitab, JMP, Power BI, or comparable analytical and visualization tools.
- Exposure to ASTM, ISO, AATCC, military, or customer-specific test methods and specifications.
- Zero to three years of relevant professional experience; exceptional new graduates are encouraged to apply.
