Job Description

EMBEDDED SYSTEM ENGINEER
  • ELECTRICAL
ENGINEER
As a Simtek Embedded System Engineer you will be responsible for designing high fidelity simulated training components used in Military and Commercial Flight Simulators. Product line includes, Simulated Instrument Gauges, Control Panels, and Multifunction LCD displays.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Technical background/experience to include and should be familiar with: Hands-on hardware, software, firmware development, analog and serial design experience Analog circuits / design experience (motor drives and feedback circuits, mainly DC. AC circuits a Plus) Digital circuits (higher voltage interfaces, and embedded systems a plus) Must have hands-on experience in rapid prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification and manufacturing support Experience with SBC programming and configuration (Beagle Bone and RPI) Technical knowledge and experience of PCB layout, and schematics, with familiarity in design and layout tools and process. Must have advance level hands on experience with various FPGAs designs and tools from VHDL, C++ (for embedded circuits, and Keil IDE a Plus), and Pascal (Delphi a plus) Experience with various communication and hardware protocols including:o RS232, RS422, RS485, Ethernet, PoE, Interbus-S, USB, ARINC 429, CANbus, LVDS, MIPI, I2C, SPI, Ethernet circuits and protocols, (LCD circuit interfaces such as DVI, VGA, LVDS, HDMI, DisplayPort a plus) General
LCD / OLED
display product knowledge and experience a plus, including understanding of signal interfaces DVI, VGA, LVDS, HDMI, DisplayPort, MIPI. LCD interfaces circuits and content source types, resolutions, etc. General Mechanical aptitude, fabrication, and assembly a plus (SolidWorks, rapid prototyping, etc.)
GENERAL SKILLS
Analog and digital hardware and firmware design Embedded systems programming VHDL C ++ and Delphi Programming languages Soldering Technical writing Troubleshooting to component level High level of detail
  • Mechanical aptitude Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word ECAD software Comfortable working independently and within groups
  • team player Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills and able to present to external groups, customers, management, and vendors.
Strong technical, analytical, problem solving, communication, and relationship management skills.
