Must-Have Skills Primary:
PowerStore, Unity, Fibre Channel (Brocade directors/switches)
Preferred Skills Secondary:
PowerScale, Data Domain, PowerVault Role Overview Provide onsite (US Citizen) high-end storage administration support for a 12-month engagement, focused on Dell storage platforms and SAN infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design:
Assess and document the existing PowerStore, Unity, and Brocade SAN environment Recommend enhancements for capacity, performance, and resiliency Support data tiering and data protection strategy
Implementation & Configuration:
Install, configure, and optimize PowerStore and Unity arrays (storage pools, volumes/LUNs, datastores, replication, snapshots) Configure and manage Brocade SAN (zoning, fabric setup, firmware upgrades) Integrate storage systems with host environments and applications
Operations & Administration:
Perform daily storage and SAN management tasks including provisioning, expansions, migrations, and LUN mappings Monitor system health, performance, and capacity Maintain documentation such as runbooks, SOPs, and environment details Execute changes in alignment with customer change management processes
Backup & Data Protection:
Configure and manage Data Domain for backup and recovery operations Validate and test restore procedures regularly Ensure backup strategies align with RPO/RTO and compliance requirements
File & Secondary Storage:
Administer PowerScale for file-based workloads (shares, quotas, access control, tuning) Support PowerVault for secondary, archival, or test environments Plan and execute data migrations with minimal impact to business operations
Performance & Troubleshooting:
Analyze performance across storage and SAN layers, identify bottlenecks, and implement fixes Troubleshoot issues across arrays, SAN fabric, and hosts; coordinate with Dell Support as needed Apply best practices for tuning and firmware/code upgrades
Governance & Security:
Manage secure zoning and LUN masking Implement role-based access controls and ensure audit readiness Support compliance and audit requirements related to storage and backup
Knowledge Transfer & Reporting:
Provide training and knowledge transfer to customer teams Maintain updated documentation and architecture diagrams Deliver regular status reports covering progress, risks, and upcoming activities Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in storage and backup operations
