Job Description

The South Texas Project Electric Generating Station is one of the newest and largest nuclear power facilities in the nation. SUMMARY The I&C/Digital Modifications Engineer position assumes responsibility for the development, implementation, and administration of assigned projects and engineering changes. Essential responsibilities for this position include providing design products in support of station priorities and operations and maintenance organization needs. The design products are essential to address degraded/non-conforming conditions and to maintain plant reliability. Engineering deliverables include products such as engineering changes, specifications, calculations, and documented engineering evaluations.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Required).
EXPERIENCE
Engineering levels will be commensurate with the candidate's educational background, relevant technical experience (including engineering, maintenance, and operations), nuclear power experience, and overall qualifications.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical support for operations and maintenance personnel regarding plant systems. Responsible for taking design modifications from conceptual phase through installation and closeout. Example modifications include switchyard improvements, protective relay upgrades, distributed control system upgrades, transformer replacements, and circuit breaker replacements. Collaborate with key stakeholders on design modifications. Prepares and reviews engineering documentation (i.e., calculations, specifications, analysis, drawings, evaluations, engineering change packages, etc.) Ensures applicable project activities are maintained within allocated schedule and budget Support investigations and reports for apparent or root cause analysis and generates recommendations for corrective actions. Reviews and evaluates industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to STP and apply applicable operating experience into the design. Provide engineering expertise when required to support complex plant issues or requests for assistance from other site organizations.
SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of design, operations, maintenance, and testing, preferably in nuclear power. Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings. Strong technical writing and verbal communications skills required. Familiar with Operational Technology (OT) concepts and principles
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Accept Emergency Response Organization (ERO) position as needed. Accept outage position as needed. Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access. Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position. Support rotational engineering duty.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed. Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week. Travel may be required. May be required to carry a phone. Support rotational engineering duty.
WORK LOCATION
Primarily Onsite - This position is expected to work primarily onsite due to the nature of the role. Limited flexibility for an alternate work location may be available in the future, based on business needs. Any approved alternate work location requires adequate technology and that a solid ergonomic setup is present.
