August 31, 2026 The Space Dynamics Laboratory ( SDL ) is seeking a junior-level software engineer to assist in the development of a sensor fusion application as part of a small team. This application collects data from a wide variety of hardware sources and presents it to data analysts and operators in meaningful ways. You'll work on a variety of tasks, including:

+ Developing control software to interface with scientific instruments

+ Developing user interface components to present key scientific data

+ Interacting with key stakeholders to develop and verify software requirements We don't expect candidates to have experience with every technology we use. We're looking for strong software fundamentals, curiosity, and an ability to learn.

Required Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field

+ Strong programming fundamentals and proficiency in at least one modern programming language

+ Familiarity with software design, testing, debugging, version control, and collaborative development practices

+ Ability and interest in learning unfamiliar languages, frameworks, and technical domains

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance; no current clearance is required

+ Ability to work on-site and access laboratory equipment as required.

+ Ability to complete required safety training and follow applicable safety procedures.

+ Flexibility to occasionally work outside normal business hours, typically fewer than 10 hours per year.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience with one or more of the following:

+ Go

+ TypeScript / Vue

+ Python (NumPy, SciPy, OpenCV, and other scientific libraries)

+ C / C+ +

+ Docker

+ Familiarity with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL

+ Experience with digital communication protocols ( TCP / UDP , serial, Modbus, etc.)

+ Experience with user interface / user experience design

+ Experience with data analysis / data visualization techniques

+ Experience or interest in developing algorithms for large datasets (100 GB - 10 TB)

+ Experience or interest in real-time software development (robotics, avionics, industrial safety, etc.)
