This role owns our internal APIs, integration standards, API documentation, developer portal, and API gateway. The ideal candidate is technically strong, self-directed, and able to communicate clearly with customers, vendors, and internal teams while leading selected integrations from requirements through production support. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, maintain, and improve integrations with B2B vendors, customer systems, and third-party platforms. Own internal API architecture, standards, lifecycle management, documentation, and support procedures. Design, build, and manage the developer portal and API gateway for internal APIs. Perform data mapping, transformation, payload design, schema alignment, and validation across systems. Test, validate, troubleshoot, and support integrations through development, UAT, deployment, and production. Diagnose and resolve production integration issues involving authentication, connectivity, payloads, mappings, data quality, or vendor systems. Communicate clearly with customers and vendors to gather requirements, explain options, document decisions, coordinate timelines, and resolve issues. Act as a self-directed project manager for assigned integrations, including scope, tasks, dependencies, risks, stakeholders, and delivery commitments. Create reusable frameworks, templates, standards, and patterns that improve integration consistency and speed. Evaluate tools, automation, AI-assisted development practices, and testing approaches that improve integration quality and reliability. Required Qualifications 5+ years of relevant experience in systems integration, API design, middleware, software development, technical architecture, or a related role. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Hands-on experience designing, consuming, testing, and supporting REST and SOAP APIs. Experience with authentication and authorization patterns such as OAuth, SAML, JWT, API keys, certificates, mTLS, and token-based access. Strong understanding of JSON, XML, webhooks, batch/file-based exchange, real-time APIs, data mapping, and transformation. Experience with Handlebars or similar templating tools for data transformation, payload generation, or dynamic content assembly. Experience with API testing, documentation, debugging, monitoring, API gateways, and tools such as Bruno and Swagger/OpenAPI. Ability to troubleshoot production integration issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams, customers, and vendors. Working knowledge of AI development tools, AI-assisted coding, automation, or practical AI use in documentation, testing, development, or operations. Strong communication, organization, and self-directed project management skills.
