Software Application Developer, IT (75868) VA, Sterling - Corporate Office - Sterling, VA 20166 Apply Overview Position Type Full-Time Job Shift Day Education Level Bachelor's Degree Travel Percentage None Category Administrative & Clerical Apply Description Centurion is proud to be a leading provider of comprehensive healthcare services to correctional facilities, state hospitals, and community mental health centers nationwide. We are currently seeking a Software/Application Developer to join our corporate team located in Sterling, Virginia. The Software/Application Developer is responsible for design, develop, and maintain secure and scalable web applications that support clinical workflows, patient engagement, and interoperability with electronic health record (EHR) systems. You will work across a hybrid tech stack and play a key role in modernizing our platform with cloud deployment while optimizing both code and delivery pipelines.
  • Design and build full-stack web applications using Java and .NET MVC frameworks.
  • Integrate web applications with healthcare APIs and services (e.g., FHIR, HL7, EHR systems).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, Business Analysts and Clinical informatics experts.
  • Participate in architecture and design sessions, particularly around interoperability and system integrations.
  • Ensure performance, security and data integrity in back-end processes.
  • Collaborate on CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance using tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Azure DevOps, etc.
  • Automate infrastructure and application deployment in cloud environment (Azure).
  • Contribute to cross-platform integrations between .NET and Java services.
  • Maintain and modernize legacy systems while contributing to new applications in microservices environment
  • Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
  • Maintain and refactor existing components built with Java and .Net environment.
  • Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and help define engineering standards.
  • Develop and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, code reviews, retrospectives).
  • Monitor system health, application performance, and logs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly, maintaining high system availability. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in full-stack web development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, .NET, Core / ASP.NET MVC / Web API, and development platforms.
  • Solid understanding of application development using Spring boot, .Net and various DevOps tools on cloud infrastructure, especially Azure cloud.
  • Experience in front end application development, preferably using Angular.
  • Experience with healthcare data standards like
HL7, HIPAA
Compliance, and EHR integrations.
  • Familiarity with
HIPAA, PHI
data handling, and healthcare compliance standards.
  • Proficient in SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with SVN, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Pentaho is preferred.
  • Strong debugging, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills.
