Director of Software Development
Job Description
One of our clients is currently seeking a Director of Software Development. The Director of Software Development is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding and executing the organization's technology initiatives. Working closely with executive leadership, this individual helps define and implement the overall software development strategy while ensuring alignment with business objectives. This position oversees the full software development lifecycle, including system architecture, application development, performance optimization, and delivery. The Director leads development teams, promotes best practices, and ensures that systems are scalable, secure, and efficient. Key Responsibilities Support leadership in shaping and executing the strategic vision for software development. Oversee the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of software solutions. Lead, mentor, and grow a team of developers, fostering technical expertise and career development. Drive innovation by introducing modern tools, frameworks, and development practices. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions. Manage development roadmaps, establish priorities, and ensure timely delivery of key initiatives. Monitor system performance and proactively address risks related to scalability, architecture, and dependencies. Conduct code reviews and enforce development standards to maintain quality and consistency. Champion Agile/Scrum methodologies and promote continuous improvement across teams. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency within the development lifecycle through process enhancements. Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges in existing applications and systems. Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation for systems and development processes. Ensure adherence to security standards and industry best practices. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of experience in software development, including at least 3 years in a leadership role. Strong experience with C# and VB in a Microsoft development environment. Proficiency in SQL Server, including database design and query performance tuning. Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and enterprise-level systems. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and managing development cycles. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site environment, with flexibility for extended hours when needed. Experience in logistics, transportation, or similar industries is a plus.
