You will lead a team responsible for design, development, and verification of advanced inertial navigation systems featuring the world's most sophisticated sensors supporting all Honeywell Aerospace sensing and guidance products in support of both the Space Navigation PAC and the Navigation and Sensors GBE product lines. The position will focus on attracting, developing, and retaining top technical talent while building an operating system to ensure efficient and effective development program / project and department execution. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering for Sensors, Guidance & Navigation, the Director will oversee software engineering development efforts, coordinate with program management, and ensure successful technical execution, scheduling, development cost, and quality and certification objectives. This role requires managing optimization of SW engineering processes and tools to enhance program execution, effectiveness, and development speed. The ideal candidate will have a strong software engineering development background, with prior experience managing large engineering groups supporting varied product portfolios. Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities Program execution
  • managing cost and schedule, staffing supply and demand management Employee engagement
  • all aspects of people leadership including hiring, expectation setting, coaching, career development and performance management, team building Department operations
  • identify and implement improvements to engineering execution speed and efficiency, including implementing common standards, processes, and tools Develop plans, strategies, budgets, and staffing requirements, while addressing engineering capabilities and capacity through talent development and recruitment.
Enhance engineering effectiveness and efficiency by improving workflows and processes within the site. Champion productivity initiatives; including digitization, model-based development engineering, and use of AI as part of the development life cycle. Qualifications
US CITIZEN REQUIREMENT
Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements. You must have A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related degree Minimum 20 years of experience in software engineering management, preferably in aerospace or related industries 15 years of engineering development experience with a focus on real-time software engineering Due to export controls, candidates must be US citizens and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance We value Understanding various software development lifecycles in support for developing safety critical embedded software and architecture Demonstrated leadership experience in coordinating and overseeing entry to senior level professionals, including a track record of improving team performance and work practice through team coaching Proven track record of successfully leading technically complex development projects and transitions to production Proven track record to execute multiple projects while meeting customer expectations Ability to consistently make timely decisions and balance systematic analysis with decisiveness, even in the face of complexity Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done Ability to positively influence others and create a passion for excellence Collaborative work with cross-functional partners enabling teams to exceed expectations on work delivery and timelines Inertial sensing and navigation domain knowledge Aerospace or similar safety critical industry experience Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices Beneficial relevant experience DO178 experience Agile or SAFE-Agile DevOps tools & processes (GIT/Bitbucket, Jira, Collaborator, Confluence, Bamboo) Six Sigma development methodology
