(k) United States, Indiana, Carmel 720 City Center Drive (Show on map) Aug 21, 2026 Description As MISO's Software Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for leading one or more teams to design, build, deliver, and operate software at scale. You will set the technical direction, own delivery across schedule, cost, scope, and quality, and drive modern software engineering practices. You'll champion AInative and automationfirst SDLC practices while ensuring alignment with engineering standards. You'll work closely with business stakeholders and Product Management to deliver highvalue initiatives. In addition, you'll collaborate with peer managers to advance departmental and enterprise strategic goals. As MISO's Software Engineering Manager, you will: Lead software engineering teams by setting technical direction, driving delivery, and advancing Champion AInative and automationfirst software development practices across the organization Partner closely with Product Management to champion product thinking and ensure roadmaps are feasible, clearly communicated, and aligned to stakeholder and customer needs Oversee vendor partnerships, including selection, SOW development, onboarding, and ensuring delivery meets MISO's quality and security standards Establish departmental goals and maintain adherence to standards, policies, and modern engineering practices Recruit, develop, manage, and coach a diverse team of engineers and emerging leaders, creating growth-aligned development plans Provide technology leadership in application development and security, track delivery and quality metrics, and manage budgets and resource forecasts Experience/Qualifications we are looking for as our
Software Engineering Manager:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or four years of equivalent work experience) Minimum of 5 years of technical experience and 3 years of management experience required (with 12 years technical and 5 years management experience preferred). Demonstrated ability to lead multiple software engineering teams in a distributed workforce and manage vendor or staff augmentation resources Experience overseeing fully outsourced teams, including vendor selection, onboarding, contract/SOW oversight, and performance management (preferred) Thorough understanding of and software development methodologies Strong experience with implementing AI-native software engineering tooling and workflows with a demonstrated ability to stay current with rapidly evolving AI technology Strong experience in CI/CD and modern engineering ecosystems (e.g., GitHub), cloud-native architectures (e.g., Azure, Kubernetes), containerization, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform) Background in developing customer-facing applications, APIs, and real-time highavailability systems Understanding of application security practices and secure software development lifecycle in a compliance-driven environment (e.g., NERC
CIP, SOC 1
) Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge. The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $157,000 - $182,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience. Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.
