Engineering ManagerJob Description In the role of Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing a dynamic team of Software Engineers in alignment with business goals. This position is based in Calgary, Alberta, and offers a hybrid work arrangement, with 20% flexibility to work from home. Responsibilities
+ Build and nurture high-performing development teams through effective hiring, mentoring, and professional development.
+ Allocate resources efficiently, balancing workloads and skillsets within the teams.
+ Conduct regular performance evaluations for team members, providing constructive feedback and setting development goals.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a holistic approach to product development.
+ Motivate and inspire team members, fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
+ Provide strong leadership and guidance to employees, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
+ Foster open communication within the team, encouraging the sharing of ideas and information.
+ Act as a servant leader for your team members, removing obstacles and resolving conflicts.
+ Monitor the performance of individuals and teams, fostering a high-performance mindset while providing constant feedback.
+ Collaborate with other managers and stakeholders to ensure resources are aligned with company goals.
+ Champion and facilitate Agile methodologies, ensuring the team adheres to Agile practices and principles.
+ Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring teams remain focused, efficient, and productive.
+ Act as a bridge between the team and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication of priorities and expectations.
+ Track sprint progress and deliverables to ensure projects stay on track and align with company goals. Essential Skills + 10+ years of SaaS Product and microservices software development experience. + 10+ years of experience building a SaaS platform with event-driven, API -first, microservices environments. + 10+ years as an Engineering manager with a minimum of 8 to 10 direct reports.
+ Experience with GoLang is helpful but not required; openness to candidates who have worked with comparable modern stacks and can ramp up quickly.
+ Strong understanding of Agile principles, Scrum framework, and other Agile and Project Management methodologies.
+ Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Proven track record of resolving conflicts, building team cohesion, and fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.
+ Extensive experience leading and mentoring Senior and Junior Software Engineers.
+ Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a focus on outcomes.
+ Ability to mentor and motivate team members while fostering a growth-oriented environment.
