In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and performance of cutting-edge mobile and embedded devices through comprehensive testing and automation. Your expertise will help deliver robust, reliable OTA updates and seamless user experiences across Android and iOS platforms. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse set of technologies, tools, and methodologies to push the boundaries of mobile device testing. Your proactive approach and technical acumen will drive continuous improvement in our testing processes, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. Responsibilities Design, develop, and execute detailed test cases for OTA firmware updates across multiple device platforms including Android and iOS. Automate test processes using tools such as Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, and scripting languages like Python and JavaScript to improve efficiency and coverage. Conduct functional, system, performance, load, and user acceptance testing on mobile applications and embedded device firmware. Utilize defect tracking tools such as HP ALM, Jira, or TFS to document issues clearly, track progress, and verify fixes through retesting. Perform root cause analysis on failures using debugging techniques, SQL queries (MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server), and data analysis skills to identify underlying issues. Collaborate with development teams during SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), Agile practices like Scrum or Kanban, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth release cycles. Validate APIs (RESTful services, SOAP) for OTA communication protocols using tools like Postman or custom scripts; ensure seamless integration with backend systems. Support continuous integration environments with Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub for automated build and test execution; contribute to release management activities. Conduct regression testing following updates or patches; participate in QA/QC activities including test case design, review, and execution. Provide technical support during user acceptance testing phases; assist in troubleshooting issues related to system testing or software troubleshooting. Experience Proven experience in mobile device testing within an IT environment with a focus on OTA firmware updates for Android and iOS platforms. Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies including functional testing, performance testing (LoadRunner), automation testing (Selenium, TestNG), and system testing. Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Bash (Unix shell), or C++ for test automation purposes. Familiarity with version control systems like Git or SVN; experience working within CI/CD frameworks such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps is preferred. Solid understanding of APIs (RESTful
API, SOAP
), web services (XML/JSON), and database querying (SQL/PL-SQL) for data validation purposes. Expertise in defect tracking tools like Jira or HP ALM; ability to perform root cause analysis and debugging efficiently. Knowledge of mobile operating systems including Android and iOS; experience with UI automation tools such as Appium is a plus. Experience working within Agile software development environments using Scrum or Waterfall methodologies; excellent collaboration skills are essential. Strong analytical skills combined with attention to detail; ability to interpret complex requirements into effective test strategies.
