The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for all research, design, development, test, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. We make amazing products - and we're constantly trying to make them even better.

When people use out products to capture images, we want to make sure that the experience is easy, fun, and best in class. We're looking for someone who is passionate about imaging. Someone who wants to change the way people record their lives. Someone who can drive innovation in technology, manufacturing, and integration as part of a diverse team. And preferably someone who is a strong performer in electrical or mechanical engineering, computer science, optics or physics. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Responsibilities Design and perform laboratory experiments in Apple labs to characterize camera prototypes for design validation and failure analysis Define and execute characterization and validation plans, develop quantitative metrics and analysis to evaluate performance, develop new test equipment and procedures Minimum Qualifications Currently pursuing BS MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics or a related discipline. Preferred Qualifications Currently pursuing BS MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics or a related discipline. Experience using Matlab, Python, C#, or C++ for lab equipment control and data collection Experience in image processing and quantitative imaging analysis with Matlab or Python Experience in hands-on lab setups involving camera, optics, and EE Experience with 3D CAD mechanical design for fixtures is a plus Experience with board level circuit debug and soldering is a plus Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $225,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation.
