This role works across the data lifecycle to build pipelines, structure data assets, and improve data quality in support of business and client needs. The ideal candidate brings hands-on engineering experience, strong technical execution, and the ability to work across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Work you'll do As a Data Engineer III on the Data Engineering team, you will be responsible for... Translate complex financial and operational data into executive-level briefings and compelling data stories. Build automated data pipelines that improve reporting consistency, accuracy, and speed to insight. Develop standardized metrics and analytical products for Navy Secretariat Comptroller and Resource Directorate initiatives. Serve as a trusted advisor to federal stakeholders by delivering actionable analysis and recommendations. Create executive-ready reports and automated decision-support dashboards. Support financial execution by monitoring obligation benchmarks and identifying performance gaps. Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field 5+ years of experience in data engineering, extract transform load (ETL) development, or data integration 2+ year of experience with Spark, Databricks, or distributed data processing frameworks 2+ years of experience developing interactive dashboards and data visualizations in Qlik Sense, including data modeling, scripting, dashboard design, and performance optimization Must possess an active U.S. Secret security clearance and be able to maintain it for the duration of employment and assignment Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Preferred:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field Experience with Department of War (DoW) and Navy Advana, including familiarity with their data environments, reporting requirements, and decision-support capabilities. This compensation range is specific to Maryland and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97,900 to $163,100. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
