The Automation Specialist takes a leadership role in maintaining and improving the performance of all Automation Specialist equipment throughout the plant. Position collaborates with people across departments, functions, and levels. Position utilizes strong communication, analytical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills to drive continuous improvement and quickly resolve issues.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Become the plant expert on the overall operation and performance of Automation Specialist equipment, including ongoing operation and changeovers. Function as trainer, coach and mentor to employees operating Automation Specialist equipment on all lines across all shifts. Troubleshoot Automation Specialist issues (minor stops, defects, breakdowns) impairing Production Line's ability to meet Targeted TE (True Efficiency) goals and work with front line operators and supervision to develop and implement corrective action plans to resolve ongoing issues. Provide leadership to the Automation Specialist work cells in an effort to continually improve overall performance capabilities and partner with Vendors/Suppliers, plant Maintenance and Operations. Review Automation Specialist CIL standards, Centerline standards and compliance on a daily basis and work with Production Supervisor to develop action plans to immediately address gaps. Review and revise SOPs (Safety, Operation, Quality, Sanitation) as needed. Assist Operators and Mechanics with PM events and emergency repairs as needed. ssist operators in changeovers and work as an RCO (Rapid Changeover) resource to improve on time to complete Automation Specialist changeovers. Attend performance review meetings and communicate downtime issues along with SRC (Simple Root Cause) and corrective action. Ensure that Automation Specialist reapplications take place across the entire production floor to insure consistency. Serve as resource for the Automation Tech team and participate in team activities. Work with Maintenance to identify and audit equipment spare parts requirements. Provide Technical Support for Line TPM Teams by attending NWT and/or DDE/Drumbeat events. Support equipment operations by completing basic AM and/or PM activities. Support equipment rebuild operations and package/product innovation. Conduct group trainings as needed Operate Automation Specialist equipment as needed Participate on the Organizational Capability (OC) Team Utilize basic understanding of drives, lubricant, and fasteners when troubleshooting and performing tasks.
