IRI-Tech Transfer Responsibilities :
The Software Quality Assurance Analyst plays an important role in ensuring the quality and reliability of IRI software products. They are responsible for designing and executing test plans, identifying and reporting bugs, and collaborating with developers to resolve issues. The Software Quality Assurance Analyst reports to the Chief Technology Officer of the Informatics Research Institute (IRI). This is an on-site position in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Define test objectives and scope; develop test plans and test cases; identify and prioritize test scenarios. Execute test cases manually or using automated testing tools; reproduce and document bugs and defects; track and report test progress. Log and categorize bugs using defect tracking systems; communicate bugs to developers and track their resolution; verify bug fixes and ensure they do not introduce new issues. Collaborate with developers to understand software requirements and design; communicate test results and findings to stakeholders; participate in development meetings and provide feedback. Conduct usability testing; evaluate software usability and user experience; identify and report usability issues and suggest improvements; ensure software is user-friendly and accessible. Ensure product design consistency; verifies that UI/UX adheres to IRI guidelines and design principles to ensure consistent customer experience. Conduct performance testing; assess software performance under load; identify and report performance bottlenecks; optimize software performance for scalability and responsiveness. Conduct security testing; identify and assess security vulnerabilities; conduct penetration testing to identify potential exploits; recommend security measures and best practices. Develop documentation; maintain and update test plans, test cases, and test results; document defect reports and resolution procedures; create and maintain user guides and training materials.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field. Or 5 years of work experience in software development in real world settings may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C#, Python, or C++. Understanding of various testing methodologies, including black-box testing, white-box testing, exploratory testing, and automated testing. Analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to meticulously examine software products and identify potential defects; ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions; ability to apply logical thinking to understand software behavior and identify inconsistencies. Ability to clearly articulate test findings, defects, and suggestions to developers and stakeholders. Ability to work effectively with developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure quality software delivery. Proficiency in using various testing tools and frameworks, such as Selenium, JUnit, and TestNG. Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases and the role of QA testing within the SDLC. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to write clear, concise, and informative documentation, such as test plans, defect reports, and user guides. Excellent planning, documentation, and organizational skills. Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Job Ad# (req4525)
