About the role As a Senior API Automation Engineer (AWS & AI Testing) , you will make an impact by designing scalable API automation solutions and advancing intelligent testing practices across cloud-native applications. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with developers, architects, business teams, and other technology stakeholders to support high-quality software delivery. In this role, you will Design, develop, and maintain scalable API automation frameworks using Java, Rest Assured, TestNG, Maven, and Postman. Automate
REST API
validation across integration, regression, and end-to-end testing scenarios for microservices-based applications. Apply AI agents and generative AI tools to support test generation, intelligent validation, and self-healing automation capabilities. Validate API contracts, JSON and XML schemas, OAuth and JWT authentication, database integrations, and service responses. Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines and AWS-based cloud-native applications, while collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to ensure quality delivery. What you need to have to be considered 10+ years of experience in quality engineering, test automation, or software testing, with strong hands-on experience in API automation. Advanced experience developing API automation frameworks using Java, Rest Assured, TestNG, Maven, and Postman. Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices testing, JSON and XML validation, API contracts, schemas, OAuth, and JWT authentication. Experience integrating automated tests with Git, Jenkins or GitHub Actions, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines. Hands-on experience validating AWS-based applications and services , such as API Gateway, Lambda, ECS or EKS, S3, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch. Experience with SQL, backend database validation, integration testing, regression testing, and end-to-end testing. Experience using AI agents or generative AI tools , such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, OpenAI technologies, or Amazon Q, in testing or engineering workflows. These will help you stand out Experience designing agentic AI solutions, Model Context Protocol integrations, or self-healing test automation frameworks. Exposure to AWS Bedrock or other AI-powered testing solutions. Healthcare payer or provider domain experience. Knowledge of healthcare business functions such as claims, enrollment, utilization management, or care management. Experience working with healthcare platforms such as Facets or QNXT, along with an understanding of HIPAA-related requirements . Salary and Other Compensation The annual salary for this position is between $71,100 to $112,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans. Benefits
