This role will be responsible for leading and supporting comprehensive testing activities across business, functional, and technical workstreams, with a strong focus on test execution, defect management, requirements traceability, data validation, and test automation. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working within large, complex organizations and brings a strong combination of hands-on testing expertise, technical knowledge, and cross-functional leadership . This individual will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, developers, and project leadership to ensure solutions meet defined requirements and are thoroughly validated prior to implementation. Key ResponsibilitiesTest Strategy, Planning & Execution Lead and participate in testing activities for large-scale technology implementations and legacy application modernization initiatives . Coordinate business, functional, and technical testing teams to establish test execution objectives, priorities, schedules, and expected outcomes. Develop, review, and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test cases . Coordinate end-to-end testing activities across multiple systems, applications, interfaces, and project workstreams. Monitor testing progress and ensure test activities remain aligned with project requirements, schedules, and implementation objectives. Identify testing risks, dependencies, and constraints and work with project teams to drive timely resolution. Defect Management & Test Reporting Manage the complete defect lifecycle , including identification, documentation, validation, prioritization, follow-up, solution verification, and escalation. Collaborate with business and technical teams to investigate defects and ensure appropriate resolution and retesting. Track defect status and facilitate discussions regarding critical or unresolved issues. Develop and maintain test execution and defect metrics , including burndown charts, trends, progress reporting, and testing status. Communicate testing health, outstanding issues, risks, and readiness to project leadership and key stakeholders. Requirements Analysis & Project Deliverables Review, develop, and provide input into key project documentation and testing artifacts, including: Business Requirements and Business Rules Technical and Service Requirements Test Strategies Test Plans and Test Cases Transition Plans Requirements Traceability Matrices Analyze functional and non-functional requirements to ensure they are clear, testable, and appropriately represented within testing activities. Maintain traceability between business requirements, technical requirements, test cases, execution results, and defects. Partner with business and technical stakeholders to identify requirement gaps or inconsistencies that could impact testing or implementation. Test Lifecycle & Traceability Management Utilize Test Application Lifecycle Management tools such as JAMA to manage testing activities and project artifacts. Document and maintain functional and non-functional requirements, design specifications, test cases, test results, and defects. Maintain comprehensive end-to-end project traceability throughout the testing lifecycle. Ensure testing documentation is complete, accurate, current, and aligned with project standards. SQL, Database & Data Validation Testing Perform hands-on testing against large and complex databases . Develop and execute SQL queries to identify, retrieve, analyze, and validate data used by applications and interfaces. Perform data validation across applications, integrations, and interfaces to confirm accuracy and expected system behavior. Investigate data discrepancies and collaborate with technical teams to identify and resolve underlying issues. Test Automation Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated testing using frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, and ROBOT Framework . Identify testing activities that can be automated to improve efficiency, consistency, and test coverage. Incorporate automated testing into broader testing strategies and execution plans. Support continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and methodologies. Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience working as a Test Analyst within large organizations and leading or participating in technical implementations or modernization of legacy applications. 10+ years of experience reviewing, developing, and/or contributing to project deliverables and artifacts, including Business Requirements, Business Rules, Technical and Service Requirements, Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Cases, Transition Plans, and Traceability Matrices. 8+ years of experience using Test Application Lifecycle Management tools such as JAMA to document and manage functional and non-functional requirements, design specifications, test cases, defects, and project traceability. 8+ years of hands-on experience working with large databases and developing SQL queries to retrieve and validate data for application and interface testing. Demonstrated experience coordinating business, functional, and technical testing teams and establishing test execution goals and objectives. Strong experience managing defects through validation, follow-up, solution verification, and escalation. Experience developing and reporting test execution and defect metrics, including burndown charts and trends. Ability to work onsite in West Sacramento, CA, 2-3 days per week in accordance with the hybrid work model. Desired Qualifications Experience working as a Test Analyst supporting a large-scale public pension system . Experience leading or participating in the technical implementation of pension- or retirement-related software development projects . 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and performing automated testing using frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, and ROBOT Framework .
