Test Engineer Job Description The Test Engineer will support the development, integration, testing, and verification of Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems for tactical and mission-critical space applications. This is a hands-on, hardware-centric role requiring direct interaction with physical systems, including the ability to measure, probe, and test directly on live hardware. The Test Engineer validates that software developed by systems and software engineering teams performs correctly when deployed on actual hardware using requirements-based testing methodologies. Responsibilities Perform qualification, verification, and validation testing of complex electronic systems integrating software, firmware, RF hardware, and embedded processors. Measure, stimulate, and test directly on physical hardware including board-level, chassis-level, and system-level interfaces. Execute hands-on SDR testing using spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab instrumentation. Measure RF characteristics such as bandwidth, modulation accuracy, frequency stability, timing, throughput, and interference. Debug and troubleshoot software, firmware, FPGA, and hardware issues using direct hardware measurements. Validate system behavior against requirements stored and managed in Cameo Systems Modeler and execute system-level test procedures, test cases, and scripts. Analyze test results, document anomalies, and generate formal test reports. Support system integration, interface validation, regression testing, and configuration management. Participate in technical reviews including Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and test readiness reviews. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. 5+ years of experience performing system-level testing on physical electronic hardware with embedded software and firmware. Demonstrated ability to perform direct hardware measurement and troubleshooting. Hands-on experience with RF systems and Software Defined Radios (SDRs). Strong understanding of hardware/software/firmware integration. Ability to document and clearly communicate test results. Active U.S. Secret security clearance required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with RF mission systems in defense, aerospace, or secure communications. Exposure to electronic warfare, tactical radios, or RF jammer systems. Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, DO-160, or similar standards. Experience with environmental and EMI/EMC testing. Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler. Work Environment The work environment offers a hybrid schedule with in-office presence required on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, while Monday and Friday can be remote. Work may be performed in office, lab, production floor, cleanroom, outdoor, or remote research environments. Occasional work in production areas requires personal protective equipment (PPE). There is also a requirement for the ability to travel between company sites in varying weather conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Westminster, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
