Job Description
Statistician I Med-Neurobiology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26005003) Job Summary Performs expert statistical analysis and summary reports on research data/sets using advanced techniques and analyzes data using statistical or mathematical software. Designs statistical tools and algorithms and utilizes descriptive and quantitative statistical techniques. Provides statistical support, creates analytic data files, advises on database design, and ensures compliance with University and federal regulations. Assists with crafting statistical portions of scientific manuscripts and grant proposals. Essential Functions We are seeking an energetic, hardworking, individual, to fill a Research Statistician position in the laboratory of Omar Gharbawie (Department of Neurobiology at University of Pittsburgh). The lab conducts research on non-human primates to understand how the brain controls movement. The successful candidate will have broad responsibilities including: Analyze neural imaging and neurophysiological data using custom scripts (e.g., MATLAB, Python) Annotate computer scripts and make them publicly available Generate publication quality figures of the results Read scientific papers to model analyses on published work Meet with the PI (2-3 times/week) to discuss results and next steps Meet with other lab members (1-2 times/month) to discuss analyses Collate and organize data files on the lab server Strong coding skills are necessary. Experience with neural data is strongly preferred. Salary will be determined based on qualifications. Physical Effort Mostly sedentary.
