340 Summary Under the direction of the Director of Technology Services, provides technical assistance to users regarding the operations, updates and malfunctions of the district's student information system. Performs a variety of technical duties involved in the maintenance, preparation, verification, extraction, analysis, reporting and submission of data files requested by local, state and/or federal reporting agencies. Distinguishing Career Features The Information Systems Analyst serves as the district's technical resource of the student information system, providing assistance and oversight to users to ensure accurate data processing. The Information Systems Analyst is a technical position that requires application of a well-developed knowledge of the student information system. Advancement to this position is based on need and compliance with the requirements of the position, including the ability to conduct accurate database management and reporting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintains the student information system and maintains integrity and security of the system. Performs data checks, system upgrades, and installations. Assigns user accounts and rights. Provides specialized technical and troubleshooting support and assistance to school sites and departments in the use of the student information system. Prepares electronic data submissions for various district departments, local, state and/or federal reports. Prepares, formats and submits a variety of specialized data required for state and federal grants, profiles and funding. Assures mandated reports are completed in accordance with established timelines and requirements. Receives and evaluates requests for data, statistical analysis and research projects. Develops schedules and strategies for completing assignments. Develops and implements research activities and methods of statistical data collection, analysis and presentation. Serves as technical resource for the District's registrars to provide guidance and oversight to ensure accurate data processing. Meets with registrars and other applicable staff to review and discuss needs regarding data analysis, reporting, collection, and planning. Communicates updates, changes and issues to the applicable users. Collaborates with technology staff and vendors in the collection, extraction, processing, analysis and submission of a variety of electronic data. Serves as liaison between district personnel, administrators, outside agencies and governmental organizations concerning assigned data processing and reporting functions. Resolves related issues and discrepancies as needed. Audits a variety of data, records and reports for accuracy and completeness. Compares data and identifies errors and discrepancies. Makes corrections and modifications as needed. Adds and revises data to meet reporting changes and requirements as necessary. Creates and maintains summer school database. Trains administrators in summer school data operations. Conducts technical training for staff on the use of the student information system. Attends and participates in meetings and conferences to stay abreast of new developments in information systems, particularly in relation to regulations governing student information, web accessibility standards, copyright, and best practices. Develops and maintains the District website. Designs and assures functionality of links, online forms, and scripts. Creates and modifies images, icons and graphics for website use. Assists departments, teachers, office staff, district programs and school sites in setting up specific websites. Provides login information, software and support as websites are developed. Creates guides and tutorial videos for staff, students, and parents, pertaining to technology updates or system changes. Issues, orders and manages mobile telecommunications devices. Provides information and assistance to users of mobile devices. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. Qualifications Knowledge and Skills Well-developed knowledge of the student information system. Principles, practices, procedures and techniques involved in the research, collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of statistical data. Principles, practices, procedures and techniques involved in web design and maintenance. Computerized data collection, management, manipulation and distribution requirements for analysis and reporting functions. Data control procedures and data entry operations. Principles, practices, procedures and techniques involved in recordkeeping and records management. California school district's enrollment and scheduling process. Personal computer based software programs including word processing and spreadsheet. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Oral and written communication skills. Abilities Perform all of the relevant duties of the position with minimal supervision. Physical Abilities Function indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Ambulatory ability to sit for extended periods of time, to utilize microcomputers and peripheral equipment, accomplish other desktop work, and to move to various campus locations. Near vision to read printed materials. Auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the telephone. Retrieve work materials from overhead, waist and ground level files. Manual and finger dexterity to write, keyboard, operate a computer and other standard office equipment, requiring repetitive motions. Education and Experience Associate's degree in data processing, computer science or related technical field and two years of experience in database operations, including the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of computerized data, and web design and maintenance. Additional experience may be substituted for higher education on the basis of two years of experience for one year of college. Licenses and Certificates May require a valid California driver's license. Working Conditions Work is performed indoors in an office environment where minimal safety considerations exist.
