Job Description

Town of Marshfield Systems Analyst Marshfield, MA Apply Statement of Duties:
The Systems Analyst is responsible for assisting in the technical administration of the Town\'s computer network systems. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.
Supervision Required:
Under general supervision of the MIS Assistant Director, the employee is familiar with the work routine and uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently with specific instruction. The supervisor provides instruction for new or unusual assignments. Unusual situations are referred to the supervisor for advice and further instructions. Supervisor reviews work to remain aware of progress, work methods, and technical accuracy. In many cases, the work is self-checking, for example, requiring accounts to balance before proceeding.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The employee as a regular part of the job is required to lead other employees to assist them in completing their assigned work. Employee also performs non-supervisory work that is of the same kind and level as is done by the employee(s) being supervised. The employee is not responsible for taking any disciplinary action. The employee is required to provide direction and guidance during emergency disaster recovery events to staff, vendors, and contract employees.
Confidentiality:
Employee has regular access to confidential information obtained during the performance of regular duties of the position in accordance with the State Public Records Law such as employee personnel files that are contained in the Town\'s computer system.
Accountability:
The nature of the professional or technical work could result in missed deadlines, jeopardize programs, significant monetary losses, delay of service delivery, or legal repercussions.
Judgment:
Numerous standardized practices, procedures or general instructions govern the work performed and, in some case, may require additional interpretation. Judgment is needed to locate, select and apply the most pertinent practice or procedure, regulation or guideline.
Complexity:
The work consists of a variety of duties which generally follow standardized practices, procedures, regulations or guidelines. The sequence of work and/or the procedures followed vary according to the nature of the transaction and/or the information involved, or sought, in a particular situation.
Work Environment:
The work environment involves everyday discomforts typical of an office setting with work performed occasionally outdoors. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but conditions are generally not unpleasant. Occasionally, the employee may be required to work ad-hoc assignments during evenings or early mornings of working days.
Nature and Purpose of Public Contact:
Relationships or contacts are primarily with co-workers, vendors, and the public involving frequent explanation, discussion or interpretation of practices, procedures, regulations or guidelines in order to render service, plan or coordinate work efforts, or to resolve operating problems.
Essential Functions:

Responsible for providing support and training to end users for computer-related issues including hardware, software, network, and vendor issues. 2. Employee performs network monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting in order to maintain network security from computer viruses as well as unauthorized users. 3. The ability to setup and configuration of network appliances such as Layer 2/3 switches, IoT devices and various other devices. 4.
