Obtain Contact Information Job Summary SMX is seeking a people-oriented, detail-driven Junior Project Analyst. This role centers on Travel Authorization Requests (TARs) and Requests to Initiate Purchase (RIPs) and serves as a coordination and communication bridge between portfolio leadership, internal teams, subcontractors, and government representatives. The Project Analyst works closely with the Portfolio Lead, project managers, contracts, and finance to ensure project actions are initiated accurately, tracked consistently, and documented in accordance with contract and internal processes. This is a remote position supporting a distributed program team in various time zones. Essential Duties & Responsibilities TAR (Travel Authorization Request) Support Initiate, track, and maintain Travel Authorization Requests (TARs) in accordance with contract and company policies Coordinate with project staff, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather required travel details Communicate travel approval status, policy constraints, and next steps clearly and professionally RIP (Request to Initiate Purchase) Support Prepare and submit Requests to Initiate Purchase (RIPs) for labor, materials, or services Coordinate with subcontractors and internal procurement teams to ensure requests are complete and compliant Track RIP status through approval and execution, following up to resolution Project & Administrative Support Maintain trackers, logs, and shared documentation repositories Capture action items, deadlines, and follow-ups from meetings and communications Support weekly and monthly reporting with accurate, well-organized inputs Process Adherence & Improvement Apply standardized checklists, templates, and workflows consistently Identify recurring issues or points of confusion and elevate them to the Portfolio Lead Support continuous improvement by helping stakeholders understand and follow established processes
Required Skills & Experience Clearance Required:
Must be eligible for a government security clearance US Citizenship is required for work on DoW contracts High school diploma and 2+ years of experience in administrative, operations, logistics, or project support roles Must be actively enrolled and seeking a business degree in a US accredited higher learning institution. Demonstrated experience coordinating requests, approvals, and follow-up actions Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain processes and policies clearly Proven ability to work with a wide range of personalities and stakeholders High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word for trackers and documentation Ability to work independently in a remote environment Desired Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred Comfortable and disciplined using/leveraging AI and LLMs Familiarity with government or regulated environments Experience supporting diverse and multiple stakeholders #cjpost The SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications.
