This highly visible role within the F135 Sustainment Program Management Office (SPMO) is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of configuration optimization across the F135 fleet. The Sustainment Configuration Manager will oversee how new engine components, assemblies, and modules are introduced into the fleet and how legacy configurations are retired. This position plays a critical role in product sustainment by engaging in engineering cold‑starts, supporting component improvements, and ensuring timely and clear communication with both internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical leadership, risk management, communication, and teamwork skills. They will be responsible for integrating and optimizing systems across the F135 enterprise, including engineering, logistics, operations, supply chain, and the broader sustainment organization. What You Will Do Drive and integrate program requirements to develop strategic configuration management plans that reduce and/or optimize configurations and the applicable Bill of Material (BoM) Support the F135 Sustainment Engine Core Upgrade (ECU) lead to the develop and implement the Engine Core Upgrade configuration management and transition strategy Support Product Change & Incorporation Review (PCIR) processes Champion configuration optimizations efforts and gain alignment across the organization Engage in technical issues related to spare parts cold‑starts to ensure efficient and effective processes Enable supply chain to optimize resources among part producers Qualifications You Must Have Bachelor's degree in (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics 12 years of engineering or an Advanced degree with 10 years of engineering experience U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract Strong systems engineering background with proven technical acumen Demonstrated communication, teamwork, and strategic leadership skills Proven track record of delivering results in a cross‑functional team environment Ability to communicate effectively with customers and all levels of management Qualifications We Prefer

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Relocation assistance is not provided. Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility. The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
