  • LR is responsible for supporting the use of technology to optimize current Land Administration and Lease Records processes, and to assist in enhancing, testing, and deploying fixes and improvements to the systems (e.
g., Quorum Land system) that support them. An intermediate understanding of lease, contract, title and land administration processes, including ownership and obligation analysis, lease set up and maintenance, payment calendars, and title/ownership review, is required. The individual assists in bridging Land Administration/Lease Records and technology teams, helping translate business needs into system solutions under the direction of senior team members.
Essential Roles & Responsibilities Subject Matter Expertise:
Maintain a working knowledge of leases, contracts, title opinions, and other legal documentation used to determine company ownership and obligations, applying this knowledge to support technology solutions; maintain a working understanding of existing land admin processes
Process Improvements:
Support COE Training and Process Analysts, Lease Records Analysts, and Land Admin Leaders in identifying pain points and opportunities to optimize processes for lease/contract set up, maintenance, payment calendars, and reporting in the Quorum Land system
Automation:
Help monitor existing automation solutions and assist in troubleshooting issues, escalating to senior team members when outages extend beyond a reasonable timeframe
AI & Emerging Technology:
Assist in researching and testing AI-enabled tools and capabilities (e.g., intelligent document processing, workflow automation, data analytics) under the direction of senior team members
System Enhancements:
Assist in translating business requirements into technical specifications for system enhancements and fixes; support testing of enhancements, fixes, and automations to existing land systems (e.g., Quorum, other internal automations)
Reporting:
Assist in developing and maintaining SQL reports, Power BI dashboards, and other tools to support payment calendars, obligation/expiration monitoring, and acreage reporting
System Administration & Support:
Assist in investigating system issues and data integrity errors, coordinating with IT and Quorum support under the direction of senior team members
Audit/SOX Controls:
Support quality assurance, data validation, and user acceptance testing on system changes prior to deployment
A&D Processing:
Assist with technology and data needs for due diligence on company acquisitions and divestitures, including data migration and validation
Stakeholder Liaison & End-User Support:
Assist end users on new tools, system enhancements, and process changes
Special Projects:
Support special projects as assigned to support the Land and Land Admin organization Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities Other duties as assigned
COMPUTER/SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS
Demonstrate strong understanding of Office/PC skills and effective use of Microsoft Office applications. Competent understanding of Quorum Land system architecture and configuration, including the ability to build and modify basic queries. Working knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI. Familiarity with company & industry specific tools such as
SPEX, TRRC
Website, and County Records search is beneficial. Exposure to SQL for data querying and validation is a plus, as is prior experience with QLS (Quorum Land System), though neither is required.
ROLE-SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Intermediate working knowledge of lease, contract, and title analysis processes
  • including ownership determination, obligations, payment calendars, and chain of title
  • sufficient to help translate business needs into technical requirements with guidance.
Ability to help analyze current departmental processes and identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and system enhancement. Ability to support testing and validation of system changes and fixes, including assisting with quality assurance and data validation prior to release. Developing data analytics skills and ability to help reconcile and troubleshoot data integrity issues. Ability to communicate effectively between technical/IT teams and Land Administration/Lease Records business users. Working understanding of the acquisition/divestiture process and related data/system needs.
TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management Information Systems, Petroleum Management, Law, or related field preferred.
