Job Description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A GIS ANALYST - I.T.
Moderate to complex technical work creating mapping products and working with spatial data on the County's computerized Geographic Information System (GIS). Supports development and maintenance of an accurate sustainable geospatial model of Pasco County. Develops modeling methodologies, coordinates geospatial data collection, management, and analysis and generates project maps and presentations to meet the analytical and technical needs of County departments, other County, State and Federal agencies, and the public. Other job functions include researching county, state, federal, and public records and maps; creating thematic geospatial datasets; generating programming for and analysis of spatial data; producing hard copy maps, reports, and analysis for presentation; operating and maintaining GIS equipment; and utilizing enterprise level computers and databases. Participates in department projects and performs other duties as required. Knowledge of spatial analysis, modeling, and statistics; geostatistics; qualitative analysis; raster analysis; network analysis; data mining. Knowledge of analytics to include vector raster and object data models; 3D modeling; data compilation, management, generalization and aggregation; use and evaluation; uncertainty and data quality. Cartographic principles for thematic and interactive map production. Knowledge of earth geometry, land partitioning systems, geo-referencing systems, datums, map projections; GPS, digitizing, field data collection, satellite, aerial, and ground based remote sensing; metadata standards. Knowledge of personal computers; SQL querying of spatial data; use of database management systems; computer-aided design and drafting work. Ability to analyze assigned problems; gather and organize the data to arrive at valid conclusions. Knowledge of Geographic Information System design for application, model, and database design, as well as planning and implementation. Knowledge of ethical; legal property and economic aspects; public sector use; and dissemination of GIS information. Knowledge in the use of personal computers and operating systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with employees, public and other agencies.
PHYSICAL SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Able to lift 40 lbs.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years' work experience in GIS OR an Associate degree in computer Science, CAD drafting or related field and four (4) years' work experience in GIS. Proficiency with ArcModel Builder, Structured Query Language (SQL), and Javascript. Experience in ArcGIS Desktop Advanced and Standard versions.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Certificate from ArcGIS training class or equivalent preferred.
