The RoleTechnical team leader for a Mainframe z/OS System Programmers team, working directly with a banking .
This position requires a highly experienced and hands-on z/OS Systems Programmer who can serve as the technical leader for the team. The successful candidate must combine strong leadership capabilities with deep technical expertise and active involvement in day-to-day technical activities.
The role is not limited to people leadership and coordination. The individual is expected to provide technical direction, lead complex problem resolution, participate directly in implementation activities, and serve as the senior technical authority for the environment.
LeadershipExcellent English communication skills to effectively lead discussions with clients, partners, and technical teams.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate team activities, mentor technical resources, and provide strategic and technical direction.
Ability to lead complex technical initiatives while maintaining active involvement in project execution.
Deep understanding of ITSM processes, including Change, Incident, Problem, and Service Management disciplines.
Extensive Technical Background as a z/OS Systems Programmer (Mandatory).
The candidate must have demonstrated practical experience performing the following activities in enterprise-scale mainframe environments:
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain z/OS operating systems and multi-vendor ISV products.
Lead and execute complex software implementations, migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex z/OS and ISV product issues, acting as the highest level of technical escalation.
Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for z/OS infrastructure and associated products.
Perform root cause analysis and drive problem resolution for critical production incidents.
Define technical standards, best practices, and operational procedures.
Support automation, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives within the z/OS platform.
Act as a hands-on technical leader, actively participating in technical delivery activities rather than functioning solely in a management capacity.
Collaborate with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams to design and implement technical solutions.
Availability to participate in on-call rotations and support multiple time zones when required.
Strong balance of technical depth and leadership capability.
Recognized technical expert capable of influencing strategy while remaining actively engaged in technical execution.
Demonstrated ability to lead by example and work directly on complex technical challenges in production environments.
