Job Specific Information :
Extensive experience working in a school district central office, technology office, or school environment, with in-depth knowledge of school operations and student information systems. Thorough knowledge of the MCPS student information system is required. Knowledge of student information systems development, implementation, software testing, quality assurance, and documentation. Ability to evaluate system functionality and test results for completeness and accuracy; develop user requirements and structured system specifications; and analyze and resolve complex problems. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects under tight timelines and changing priorities.

Thorough knowledge of the MCPS student information system is required. Demonstrated knowledge of student information systems development, implementation, software testing, quality assurance, and documentation. Ability to evaluate system functionality and test results for completeness and accuracy; analyze business needs; develop user requirements and structured system specifications; and solve complex problems. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively under tight timelines and changing priorities. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail. High degree of professionalism demonstrated through accountability, initiative, sound judgment, flexibility, adaptability, strong work ethic, effective collaboration, and commitment to quality.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of SIS and school operations is required, experience as a school record keeper or secretary is preferred. Ability to understand and conform to the techniques and procedures of systems development, systems implementation, software testing, and documentation methods. Ability to evaluate systems and software test methods and results to ensure completeness and accuracy. Ability to develop user requirements and structured program specifications. Ability to work under severe time constraints. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as human relations skills. Excellent time management skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. High degree of professionalism which includes; attitude, work ethics, taking responsibility, personal incentive, lntra-organizational effectiveness, meeting deadliness flexibility, multitasking, and attention to detail. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Education Training Experience:
Bachelors degree required. Training and experience with project management tools (such as Microsoft Project for Windows) required. Considerable experience in testing, implementing and training of commercial off the shelf (COTS) student systems in particular the Administrative Assistants Limited SIS product required systems (SIS in particular). Considerable experience in managing multi-member teams. School operations and extensive experience in using a student information system in the K-12 environment is required. Experience creating presentations, flyers, documents and excellent communication skills is highly desirable. Other applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. Must pass the competency test assigned to this position.
