Scope of Position:

Corning's Corporate Services Technology Center is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual for a position focused on developing expertise in software systems, databases, and artificial intelligence. This candidate will join a dynamic team that supports and enhances corporate technology solutions throughout the organization.

The Technology Center is recognized as the valued provider of technology services, software, and application support for the Workplace Services Division (WPS). This position supports the development, maintenance, and optimization of software systems, internal business databases, and emerging artificial intelligence tools used across WPS. This position also collaborates closely with teams across Engineering, Facilities, Global Real Estate, Information Technology, Occupancy Planning, and Environmental Health & Safety. This role helps ensure reliable, high value operational support for WPS so functional teams can focus on their core priorities.

Database/Systems Intern Requirements:

On track for a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar technology area

Knowledgeable of artificial intelligence concepts

Understanding of software systems and databases

Responsibilities:

AI & Automation Support the exploration and deployment of AI‑based tools to improve WPS processes and employee experience.

Identify opportunities to use AI to streamline repetitive tasks, enhance data accuracy, and improve knowledge sharing. Database & Data Support Assist with data validation, data entry, and basic data analysis for internal business applications.

Learn and use Databricks, SQL or other scripting languages to support reporting, data extraction, and workflow improvements. Software Systems Support Assist in administering and maintaining enterprise applications and workflow tools used across Workplace Services.

Support configuration, testing, and rollout of software updates, including sandbox validation and user acceptance testing.

Technical Skills:

Experience using AI tools (Agents, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT…)

Foundational skills with databases (Databricks, SQL Server…)

Exposure to facility/software systems (Maximo, TRIRIGA, Event Management System (EMS)…)

Experience with Microsoft Power Apps (Power Automate, Power BI, Forms…)

Proficiency with MS365 Office (Excel, Teams, SharePoint…)

Desired Skills:

Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to evolving systems.

Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school. A job that shapes a life.
