Testing Analyst VTG Defense United States, Virginia, Fredericksburg Jul 31, 2026
Overview VTG is seeking a Testing Analyst to support our team in Fredericksburg, VA. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Information Technology or 3-5 years of relevant technical experience, along with knowledge of testing processes and experience analyzing network packets and protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and SIP. Strong communication and analytical skills, working knowledge of ASN.1 encoding, and proficiency in SQL are also required. What will you do? Analyze network packets and protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, and SIP, to support system and product testing efforts.
Apply structured testing processes to validate system functionality, performance, and reliability.
Review and interpret data encoded in the ASN.1 format as part of testing and analysis activities.
Query and update data using Structured Query Language (SQL) to support testing and reporting needs.
Analyze files and data sets to identify issues, trends, and areas for improvement.
Document test procedures, findings, and results clearly for technical and non-technical audiences.
Communicate testing status, issues, and recommendations to team members and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
Learn and adapt to new products, tools, and techniques as project needs evolve.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues identified during testing. Do you have what it takes? Must be a US Citizen with a Top Secret clearance. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or 3-5 years of equivalent technical experience. Knowledge of testing processes and methodologies. Experience analyzing network packets and protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and SIP. Strong working knowledge of the ASN.1 encoding format. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze files. Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) to query and update data in a database. Ability to learn new products and techniques quickly. VTG's estimated starting pay range is $46,000-$60,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
