Job Description

Overview We submitted the following Astrion Employees for the proposal: James Thompson William Ward Mgbaghara Nwokoma Anthony Alhakeem Physical Infrastructure Specialist Astrion has four (4) contingent openings for Physical Infrastructure Specialists supporting U.S. Navy enterprise information technology operations located in Dahlgren, VA. This position supports the installation, maintenance, testing, and sustainment of the physical communications infrastructure that enables secure, mission-critical Navy information systems. The selected candidate will work with electrical systems, structured cabling, fiber optic networks, and supporting infrastructure to ensure reliable and resilient enterprise communications. Role and Responsibilities Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair structured cabling systems supporting enterprise voice, data, and network communications. Install and terminate copper and fiber optic cabling in accordance with industry standards and Government requirements. Perform fiber optic testing, certification, and troubleshooting using Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs) and other network test equipment. Support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical wiring and generator power systems supporting IT infrastructure. Conduct testing and certification of communications cabling, electrical systems, and associated infrastructure. Document infrastructure installations, cable plant modifications, and testing results. Assist with infrastructure modernization projects, network expansions, equipment relocations, and facility upgrades. Coordinate with systems engineers, network engineers, systems administrators, and facilities personnel to support enterprise IT operations. Follow established safety procedures, quality standards, and Government installation requirements while working in secure operational environments. Support preventative maintenance activities to maximize system reliability and minimize operational downtime. Participate in troubleshooting efforts involving physical layer connectivity, communications rooms, equipment racks, cable pathways, and supporting infrastructure. Maintain technical documentation, drawings, labeling, and records associated with communications infrastructure assets. Requirements Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience supporting: Electrical wiring Generator power systems Fiber optic installation LAN test equipment (including OTDR) Network and electrical system testing Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling and physical network infrastructure. Experience using cable certification and fiber optic testing equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented technical environment. Must be a U.S. citizen. Desired Qualifications BICSI Information Technology Systems (ITS) Installer Level 1 Certification. Candidates who do not currently possess this certification must be able to obtain it within ninety (90) days of Task Order award in accordance with the solicitation requirements. Experience supporting U.S. Navy or Department of Defense communications infrastructure. Experience with structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA), communications closets, server rooms, and data centers. Experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure installations. Familiarity with telecommunications grounding, bonding, and cable management best practices. Experience supporting secure Government facilities. Experience coordinating with network engineering and systems administration teams during infrastructure deployments. Security Requirements Ability to obtain and maintain the security clearance required to perform work within Government facilities. Must comply with all Government physical security and access requirements.
