Seeking an experienced Senior UX Designer to support a high volume of WordPress-based web projects within a senior, collaborative UX and development team. This individual will work across both existing and net-new websites, owning work from wireframing and responsive design in Figma through hands-on WordPress implementation, QA, and launch. This is a UX/Web Designer with strong WordPress implementation skills , not a traditional WordPress Developer. The ideal candidate is strong enough in UX and Figma to wireframe a net-new website but equally comfortable jumping into an existing site, configuring Gutenberg blocks, making CSS adjustments, troubleshooting responsive or component issues, and carrying work through launch.Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Support multiple WordPress website projects at different stages of design, development, and launch Create wireframes, page architecture, responsive designs, and prototypes in Figma Translate Figma designs into functional, responsive experiences within WordPress Work hands-on within WordPress Gutenberg/block editor to configure, customize, and implement pages and components Jump into existing designs and templates to roll out new pages, components, and responsive experiences Support net-new websites from creative brief and concept through wireframing, design, implementation, QA, and launch Make front-end styling adjustments using CSS and HTML and work with existing JavaScript when needed Troubleshoot common WordPress and front-end issues involving headers, dropdown menus, dynamic blocks, components, and responsive breakpoints Perform QA across desktop and mobile to ensure websites are responsive, functional, and visually consistent Support ongoing website maintenance and enhancement requests including homepage updates, new components, rebrands, content changes, and marketing initiatives Develop creative solutions when existing WordPress blocks or components do not fully address client requirements Work across multiple client websites simultaneously while balancing changing priorities and deadlines Participate in regular UX and development team stand-ups and collaborate closely with designers, developers, strategists, and other stakeholders Work within established creative briefs, brand guidelines, design systems, and client strategyMinimum Requirements:
7-8 years of professional web UX, web design, or UX/UI design experience Strong portfolio demonstrating significant website-focused UX and design work Hands-on experience designing and implementing WordPress websites Strong experience with Gutenberg / WordPress block editor , including configuring and customizing blocks and components Advanced proficiency with Figma , including wireframing, responsive web design, prototyping, and component/page design Strong understanding of responsive web design across desktop, tablet, and mobile Working knowledge of CSS and HTML with the ability to make front-end styling adjustments independently Exposure to JavaScript with the ability to understand or edit existing code when troubleshooting components Ability to troubleshoot WordPress, component, and responsive design issues independently before escalating to a developer Experience taking website projects from creative brief/concept through wireframing, design, WordPress implementation, QA, and launch Experience managing and contributing to multiple web projects simultaneously Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work closely with creative and technical teams Self-starter who can independently own deliverables while working effectively within a highly collaborative environmentPreferred Qualifications:
Agency experience supporting multiple clients and concurrent website projects B2B website experience , including an understanding of lead generation, engagement, and calls to action Experience working with large, content-heavy websites Experience designing across industries such as B2B, commercial, nonprofit/NGO, federal, or defense Familiarity with WordPress PHP, hooks, and filters Experience configuring or modifying dynamic Gutenberg blocks Experience with accessibility and web UX best practices Experience supporting marketing-focused websites, landing pages, and conversion-oriented digital experiences Portfolio demonstrating custom, responsive WordPress websites and a variety of visual/design stylesCareer Insights for User Interface / User Experience (UI / UX) Designer
